I think it will still be Aaron Jones but Dexter Williams will supplant Jamaal Williams as the #2 back.

In addition, Williams doesn't fumble.

My biggest concern is the lack of receiving experience, but you never know what people can do until you give them a chance.

I love Dexter. He looks like Kareem Hunt at times.

thanks for this pod-cast, re:6th/7th. It's tricky to say who will stick and find a role.....my guess it would be Summers actually based on what you said who's ahead of him positionally on the roster. Again, these are Gutey athletes so it sorta boils down to how the coaches can mold them into the Packer schemes. let's hope Williams doesn't find the wrong sort of crowd to run with in his NFL career--Yes, perhaps a UDFA RB breaks through and makes the roster, wouldn't that be nice as I'm thinking they'll likely need more depth there being that MLF looks to run more

From the 5th thru the 7th round, it is not a high probability that any player drafted will have a significant NFL career.

It takes a few years to judge how a player's career turned out.

Packers late round draft picks

2011 5th round
DJ Williams
2011 6th round
Caleb Schlauderaff, DJ Smith, Ricky Elmore
2011 7th round
Ryan Taylor, Lawrence Guy

2012 5th round
Terrell Manning
2012 7th round
Andrew Datko , BJ Coleman

2013 5th round
Micah Hyde, Josh Boyd
2013 6th round
Nate Palmer
2013 7th round
Charles Johnson, Kevin Dorsey, Sam Barrington

2014 5th round
Corey Linsley, Jared Abbrederis
2014 6th round
Demetri Goodson
2014 7th round
Jeff Janis

2015 5th round
Brett Hundley
2015 6th round
Aaron Ripkowski, Christian Ringo, Kennard Backman

So that is about 2 out of 23 became significant NFL players (and I guess you could argue that 2 or 3 others at least played some significant role for a few short seasons).

I would like to say the jury is still out on the more recent picks (anyone still hopeful on Kofi Amichia, Devante Mays or Malachi Dupre?).
Maybe Gute will do better.

Ah the voice of reason. That said, it looks like two of our last 3 picks this year were focused on Special Teams types.

I think Hollman and Summers could easily play there way onto the roster through that alone and have future upside. We so badly need core special teamers, and both actually have a history there, but we want players who can grow into larger roles. We might have got that this year.

As to Dexter, the hype train is really rolling for a player who doesn’t break tackles or block adequately and has no receiving history. If he sees the field it will be because Jones is injured or needs a break. There is a reason they picked a very similar player. He is Jones’ back up.

Williams will play on third downs and might actually get to use his hands and have some plays that suit him as . We want Rodgers upright and Williams is a good blocker, much better than Jones and even more so than Dexter, based on what I’ve seen and read. Williams has also showed himself to be more adept at receiving.
