Latest Mock Draft
#12 Packers
T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa
After landing two edge rushers and a safety in free agency, the Packers can focus on landing the best tight end in this class. Aaron Rodgers would love this.

If Hockenson is worthy of a #12 pick then ok. Otherwise Gute has set things up nicely for a BPA pick. Use FAs to fill immediate needs and the draft to build the roster.

Great job of filing some holes in the defense with the FA signings. And also sign a great OL. Now to get a good TE in the draft and another good edge rusher or safety and a couple of good OL It will be interesting to see who the Packers take at #12 and #30. Hockenson or Fant at #12? Adderly or Gardner Johnson at #30, if they drop that far? Or perhaps a top ranked OL. Risner or Edwards perhaps? Will be fun to watch the draft and see how free agency effects the picks and how the players rise or fall. Nice to see the Packers address needs in FA. Now add some talent and depth in the draft. Go! Pack! Go!

TE T.J. Hockenson, Iowa
TE Noah Fant, Iowa

The Packers patching holes on defense significantly increased the chances of either Hockenson or Fant being the pick at No. 12. A tight end isn’t a premium position, but both Iowa stars look like top-15 players in the class and potential future Pro Bowlers, and the Packers have the need. They’d just need to pick their flavor. Is Hockenson, the tough, athletic, all-around tight end, the better option for LaFleur? Or does he want an elite athlete and game-breaking receiving weapon like Fant? If both are available, the Packers could entertain trading down a few spots and targeting one or the other in the 15-20 range

Many have mocked Hockenson to the Packers at No. 30 overall. He should be in play at No. 12, too. Most mock drafts have the Packers taking an edge rusher and filling the roster’s biggest need, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Hockenson is the best player on the Packers board when they come on the clock with the 12th pick.

Here’s why Hockenson makes so much sense for the Packers in the first round:

1. Talent: Hockenson is the best all-around player at his position in the draft class and arguably one of the 5-10 most talented players overall. He’s a blue-chip prospect. Rare is the tight end that can run, catch and block at a high level. Hockenson has demonstrated an ability to do all three. The few pros that can run, catch and block at the NFL level are elite, difference-making players. Hockenson can handle anyone on the edge as an inline blocker, make plays in the passing game at all three levels, break tackles and gain yards after the catch and dominate the confined areas in the red zone. His skill set translates perfectly to the modern game. He has a high ceiling and a high floor. The guess here is that Hockenson will be a multi-year Pro Bowler
