I gotta tell you folks and I know they are only mock drafts, but a good 75% have Hockenson going in the top 15. So, I don't think its a bad stretch to pick Hockenson at #12.

Doug, it's early enough that things are going to change. I think we could trade #12 for #21 and #55 and STILL get either Hock or Fant.
The only TE in the league who's been drafted in the Top 16 is Eric Ebron. Quarterbacks, stud defenders, WRs and RBs all go before TEs. Even Frickin Gronkowski didn't get take in the first down.
The Second Day of the draft is the one that really has yielded the best TEs over the last decade.
So I wouldn't take Hock at #12. If I have to pick at #12, I'll take a stud defender and wait until the next day to get a TE.
Packer strategy should be to trade down and increase the number of picks in the Top 112.

The latest Hock had been predicted to go is #17 - #21.
So, get OL or Edge at #12 or trade down a little since Miami and Washington want to take a QB and then take That #14 #15 Pick Get the OL or DE and then take #30 Pick and whatever Miami / Washington give us and then move up to get the Hock between #16-#21. That would be my plan and at #2 either OL or LB or S.
The problem is that NE has muliple 2s and 3s and they will make a move for him. So, again we might be stuck again.
I don’t know what type of communication trust there is between teams and the information they divulge to other teams.
Lastly, I would be eyeing when to take A . Isabella.

Projections mean nothing in Mocks. Most Big Boards never had Hoek High. The Big Boards had Fant ahead. The #1 TE at the combine was Fant! Hoek has avg. numbers, and he will only get slower as he ages. It's time for you to look at other players. The Packers don't care what the fans want. It's what they want. Remember he split time with Fant! So Scheme has everything to do with how good he will be.

I would argue that their draft strategy isn't set, yet. Who and what positions they acquire (if any) in FA will do a lot to set the strategy they approach the draft with.

Picks 21 and 55 are not currently held by the same team.

I don't see anyone giving up a #1, and next year #1 to trade up. Your hoping to get more this year. But they still can get extra picks by trading #30. The trading depends on what they have in mind. I believe they have No plans to trade down or up. Your looking for guys to take the place of others. Especially Graham. THE TE IS NOT NEEDED IN THEIR MIND!

If they target TE @ #12 they could trade down one or two slots maximum to secure their interests. Miami may want to up if a QB is there or Washington, although they picked up Keenum short-term given the next two years draft classes hold QBs with more promise than this years group. If they shoot below # 15 other teams may get their guy. The Falcons are looking TE, EDGE and O line also.

I'm not going to target a TE. I'm going to target Edge. Why? Perry is gone next year. Maybe CM3 this year. I say Gute would take @12 Sweat if there. Next He trades up. - A #1 and 3 got him Alexander. #30 and #75 gets him Burns/Bush. #44 is where he targets Simmons.

Dobber, thank you for that. I'm aware that different teams own those picks, but I was approximating using the Trade Value Chart.
Point being, we could trade down and still get either Hock, or Fant, and add another pick in the middle of the 2nd round. The actual trades would likely have to be with the Steelers or Titans and we'd have to throw in a 5th rounder to balance it out.
I think that the draft is about the future of the team, whereas FA is about filling holes, so I just want as many turns on the keg as I can. Now, WHO I draft would be affected by who I got in FA but it'd still be about the future, and it's still about getting as many good players as I can.
Look at these draft boards at the guys that might be around the mid-20s of the first round, or in the 2nd and 3rd. There's a lot of good players in there at every different position and there isn't a single position where we couldn't use a better player.

Most picks seem to have a rationale behind them. Personally, at #12 I'd go for DL Ed Oliver (especially with Pettine as DC) and Edge Clelin Ferrell, over Burns (though I like Burns a lot, and would be happy to get him).
At #30 I really like someone you didn't mention, DL Jeffery Simmons. He was probably a top 10 pick before his ACL, and for a player of his calibre, I'd wait a year for him.
I do like the positions picked (Edge then OL), they are where the value lies........and if it wasn't for Simmons I'd go OT as well.

They don't have the luxury of the Simmons pick. They need players now. There are a lot of options for #30. Tillery, Abram, Adderley, Polite, Ferguson. maybe Lindstrom falls?

Disagree they don't have that luxury. They can do without a player of Simmons calibre for a year if he is as good as advertised. you don't draft high for a 1 year fix anyway, you draft for a CAREER.

After last year's draft, nothing would surprise me with our two first round picks. Josh Allen is tempting if the price is right. If not, we could exercise 12 or trade down. I'm thinking of trading up from 30 for a targeted player if we don't trade up from 12. Heck, we could trade down from both picks. Big draft for Gutey. The SEA FS would make a nice prize in free agency.
