I always like to remind people that Ron Wolf said they drafted men who were better, or potentially better, than whomever was already on the roster at that position-- sort of an "adjusted best player available." That seems to be what Gute did as well.

Also, here's at our full depth chart right now (final positions TBD):

I like our picks very much but I hope passing on DeJean wasn't a mistake , the Bears and Lions did very good as,well , Bears nailed it with the punter they took.

I was also hoping they would take DeJean, but only if they really wanted him, which apparently they did not. There may have been too much uncertainty about what position he would play. Everyone else passed on him too, including the Eagles the first time around.

I recommend trying to go to training camp. It's a good way to watch the players @ fairly close range. The 50-50 ball demonstration was particularly exciting. The newer signings will be very accessible. Many of them ride the bikes of young fans. We were within 10 feet of many of the guys. It's a great way to see them in person. They will sign autographs (mainly for young fans)
AJ Dillon was holding court and very friendly, Jaire would perform 20 push-ups every time he failed @ the 50-50. Eric Stokes was 3 feet away, very friendly and I remember thinking he was brave, @ his size, to mix it up with those big guys. The weather can be tricky as 2 of the practices were rained out but we managed finally.

Thanks Andy for the in-depth recap of the draft picks. Many were team captains and good locker room guys as well as talented at their position. Fans forget that there are 32 teams trying to get the best players to add to their team. This has to be the best Packers draft in recent memory. The 2023 draft brought in some good unknown players who should be even better this season. Its hard not to be pumped to see what the new D Coordinator and team will do in a few months, Loved the selections.

KC got the A.
Not the packers.
Doesn't it bother you and others they picked behind us.
Tradition is silly - Isn't it.
And so are grades.

One of the often repeated themes with some of these picks was how many of them were former team captains. This is a young team which just may be getting a little bit younger. I'm not at all opposed to seeing how this intangible metric of potential maturity, work ethic, and leadership skills plays out. It is just one other quality that has played out for these guys up to this point and it might be a valuable one.

Too many times we have seen across the league the draft choices who brought low impulse control to the field of play. These are the guys who will draw the 15 yarder at the most inopportune time. These are the guys who lose their head and get ejected from games (maybe more than once) . They will make you gasp, facepalm and say, "Why?" Football gets intense and emotional for all players but the ones who can keep their heads aren't going to be your hanky magnets.

So, that being said it will interesting to see if there is there, there, when factoring in some of this past captain strategy when it comes to how these guys will pan out. More steady? Better team player? Keeping their pissed off fingers away from social media postings, etc. All things which could affect a younger less experienced player in the league.

Could be a little bit of a something.
