The Headline suckered me in, and I actually spent some time listening to this podcast while I was cleaning the kitchen. When we finally got to the point in the cast where we weren't just bantering and rehashing the past, It had my interests.
Your first point was that you have to win games to win the division and make the playoffs before you can contend for the Super Bowl. I agree with that 1000% and have written it often.
You also said "Rodgers can still get "it" done" If you're saying he can run an offense and protect the ball and make some good throws, then I agree. Is that what you meant? Or did you mean he can win the division and get into the playoffs? If so, then I agree....depending on whether we have to gut the team or not. I'm leaning towards not.
"Eventually it's all going to catch up to you" Yes. Or maybe not. Guys who are a helluva lot smarter than me think this is a winning plan.
But in response to the question, no, we aren't the favorites in the NFC. I think we should be favorites to win the division. But the Lions and Bears are improving and our margin is going to be smaller if we're not a better team this year than last year. So far, I'm having a hard time finding that argument.

The NFL is all about QB play. If you have even an above average QB, you have a shot. If you don't, you're screwed.
AR is by far the best QB in the NFC bar none. Rams are not going back to back. They had a good run, but no way they make it back to NFCCG.
If you just look at the QBs in the NFC:
Aaron Rodgers
Matt Stafford
Kyler Murray
Matt Ryan
Dak Prescott
Kirk Cousins
Jerod Goff
Jalon Hurts
Carson Wentz
Sam Darnold
Taysom Hill
Daniel Jones
Justin Fields
Jimmy G (Probably) But, he might go back to AFC?
Drew Lock (Seattle) Who knows?

The NFC is ours if Gutey does his job and fields the team he's paid to construct. They say FB is a game of inches, which is true, but this time of year, football is a game of getting better in micro-increments. Young guys getting better incrementally. STs getting better, (hopefully by leaps and bounds) MaLF getting better situationally. New draft class to integrate into the mix. Whoever we might sign as FAs.
I know I am in the minority, but I expect our team to be better this season. Gutey knows who needs to be gone and who needs to stay. We don't know if the team chemistry will be better, but if it is, that should be enough to get us over the hump.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but I think you are disparaging these QBs unfairly.
Stafford just won the Super Bowl, and put together a darn good drive to do it.
Matt Ryan beat the Packers the last time we were in the playoffs. Jimmy G has done it twice. These are not garden slugs; they've proven they can win if you put a good enough team around them.
"Incremental" must be the Word of the Day. But yeah, I totally agree. As a teacher, and a coach, I know that many small improvements can end up making a big difference in the final result.
Obviously, the first hurdles will be Minnesota and Chicago, because we have to beat them to win the division. Then, we'll see who the division winners are. The East doesn't look that tough to me. The South, minus Brees and Brady, suddenly seems a little softer. Your point that it's a QB league is on display in that division now, because it doesn't look to me like any of them have a real good one.
IMO, our biggest threat will come out of the West. But before we can deal with that, we have to win the division. Beat the Lions and Vikings and Bears. And I think we're plenty good enough to do that this year. So far. Still six months to go.

I hope we're better this year, even just a little bit. Our best hope(s) for that would be a healthier offensive line, maybe a blue-chip TE. Even if we resign Douglas and Campbell, how are we improving?
It doesn't look like free agency is going to be much of an option for us, so it looks like maybe the draft, but I'm not seeing a lot of guys at #28 who are upgrades over our current starters.
