Was letting Nelson go a smart thing?

Remember when so many wanted to keep Driver for his leadership even while knowing he was near useless on the field. Nelson wasn't near useless and his leadership and respect in the locker room may have been a pacifier between Rodgers and MM and just maybe, this offense wouldn't be so...torn apart.
I do think Nelson had some play left in him for GB and his one year early release came a whole year too early.

In hindsight, it would probably have been a much better idea to release Cobb and keep Nelson, but we don't know what went on behind the scenes.

There were rumors that Nelson quit on plays towards the end of last season. The Packers are also in a purge of those that aren't team players (Sitton, HHCD, Montgomery, Randall, etc.). The way he was let go, I suspect Nelson was in that category.

Decisions are always made by someone who feels it's in the best interests of the team to do so. Unfortunately, the reasoning behind those decisions are never disclosed.

Don't know if Nelson quit on the team but Hundley sure made it look as though many did just that.
