Ode to Za'Darius Smith - The Sequel

Enjoy another poem about the great Za'Darius Smith.

If you’re unfamiliar with “Ode to Za’Darius Smith” the poem, I read it on Pack-A-Day Podcast last December. You can find the original here. But, some of you requested a new version. So today, while we’re still in the offseason and news is slow, I’m bringing you another one. For your reading pleasure, here’s Ode to Za’Darius Smith - The Sequel.

This is a poem

About a Packer named Za’Darius

Think of our defense like a G

And he carries us

Career-high sack total

With 13.5

Swapped purple for green

Now we’re watching him thrive

Topped the NFL in disruptions

Had a whopping 84

Another year with Mike Smith

And he’s going for more

Led the league in QB hits

Tied for first with 37

Z and Preston together

They’re a match made in heaven

The Super Smith Bros

Are the duo to have

When you want a stout defense

At 1265 Lombardi Ave

Z will meet you in the backfield

That’s part of his allure

Getting acquainted with opponents

Like it’s a stadium tour

Around the National Football League

You’ll barely hear his name

Snubbed feels like an understatement

When you watch him play the game

He’s the new pride of Green Bay

A great free agency addition

Wants a Super Bowl and hopefully

That wish comes to fruition

The Packers rule the North

While the Lions remain hilarious

The Bears will always suck

And the Vikings are nefarious...

Thankfully as Packers fans

We’ve got #55, Za’Darius

Poet’s note: when my dad found out I was writing a sequel about Z, he wanted in. You can thank him for the nefarious and hilarious rhymes. Like father, like daughter.

Since '61, I echo that thought. Stay safe everyone and please don't fool around with fireworks. I haven't been on this site for the last few weeks as I've been, quite literally, looking at a mountain on fire outside my window. I live about a mile and a half from the bighorn mountain range fire and last week was wicked/scary as the whole south side of the mountain was in flames and (living on the second floor) we were staring directly at it most nights. The firefighters now have the fire approximately 58% contained, but, so far, the Big Horn fire has taken out almost 119,000 acres! I live just north of Sunrise and Kolb road in Tucson. When you look at these photos one was taken from about a mile and a half further away from the mountain than where we are located. Crazy times.
May your fourth of July be peaceful and safe!

Be safe Spock! Those fires can move and change direction quickly. My deepest respect and admiration for our courageous firefighters and other first responders who are fighting to save lives and property. Hopefully they defeat the fires with no injury to themselves or any civilians. Stay well. Thanks, Since ‘61

Thanks, Since '61. At one time there were over 1000 firefighter/related personnel containing this. Thankfully, it looks like they may now have the upper hand. I can't imagine those on the ground who hiked 3 miles carrying 50+ pounds of equipment just to GET to the fire line and then know their only way out would be by air support if the wind shifted. A couple of days ago was the 10 (?) year anniversary of when the Hot Shot team was all but one killed when the wind shifted. The governor had all the state flags at half mast to mark the occasion. Brave, brave, people. You stay well, too.

Woohoo got a Z Jersey for Father’s Day! He is currently my favorite Packer who is playing. Can’t wait to see the Smiths in action with a year under their belt in our defense. Everybody have a safe 4th!!
