Neal Questionable For Sunday

Packers defensive end Mike Neal could see his first game action of 2011 on Sunday. Meanwhile, only Clifton and Zombo will be declared Out.

The Packers have listed defensive end Mike Neal as Questionable for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Meeting with reporters after today's practice, head coach Mike McCarthy said "If he's ready, if he can contribute to this game, we'll play him."

In other injury related news, both left tackle Chad Clifton and outsidelinebacker Frank Zombo were ruled Out for Sunday's game, though Zombo was observed running alongside the field during practice. The rest of the roster were full participants in today's practice.

The Packers are in the midst of a stretch where they are playing three games in ten days and they are as healthy as they could hope to be. After playing the Buccaneers the Packers face the Detroit Lions on Thursday then have ten days until they play again when they travel to New York to take on the Giants.

I think it's going to be much more structured than just sit him or don't sit him. I'm guessing he's going to be on a snap count for his first few games with spot duty depending on down-and-distance early on.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him in sub-packages this Sunday on longer down-n-distance. Guessing 10-15 snaps. Doubt they would toss him in during predictable running plays. Stress the joint more if he has to move laterally defending the run vs. just asking him to get skinny and rush the passer.

I agree CSS. They will play him in spot duty for max effect. I say "Play The Man".

Said nearly the exact same thing on the podcast this week. Let him knock the rust off this week.

If he plays and his injury suffers a "setback", I'm going nuts.

We'll have some guys coming back relatively fresh for the Lions game. Pretty cool.

Just make sure he's damn ready. Dude's been a glass house so far. We don't need him much this week, but a few snaps would be good for the Potential Monster.

So excited for Neal. He is going to be a machine! This will open up Clay, take the reps off Raji and help us put some heat with the front 4. Our D will be top 5 the rest of the way with Neal. You heard it hear first :) You can't blitz ad nauseum against Brees or Brady like last week or they will tear you apart. Here's crossing my fingers Neal stays healthy. Murphy's Law for him, he has had his injuries, now it is time to shine.
