I suspect that the 18 game schedule is mostly a bargaining tactic on the part of the NFL. It's something they would like to have but don't really need and they know the players will fight tooth and nail. When the players do fight it they will use up a tremendous amount of their political capital on that issue and the NFL can then have an easier time with the other issues that are really at stake.
I tend to agree but I worry that the players will acquiesce if the league says "We won't take away the 18% we've been asking for if you agree to two more games" Money talks and the players want as much as they can get.
I would like to see the NFL start a true developmental spring league to replace the OTA's. It could be a 4 game season with 8 teams (one for each div) for rookie/street free agents and low round draft picks. I know I'm not the only one who has wicked football withdrawal in May and June. I think it would make good money as long as they don't do something dumb like play the games in Europe. It would get Vets out of the OTA's they hate, and would allow coaches to evaluate players without the need for a long training camp/preseason.
I think you'll see just that when the NFL buys the UFL.

Good observation on Vick having missed some receivers.
Pack always gives us our money's worth when it comes to drama. Nearly having chest pains during 4'th quarter.
Jordy Nelson's performance, hadn't thought
him capable.
On Ryan Grant's injury, I'm not convinced the tackler didn't do that deliberately, that is intentionally come down on his extended lower leg with full weight. Aikman sounded like he might've been thinking the same thing.
Aaron, you work across from the NFL offices, go in there and have a talk with Goodell. Buy him a salad.
Fans like to cite the team's track record of success when it comes to finding offensive line talent later in the draft but that doesn't mean the Packers will ignore premium talent if its available on Day 1.
On today's show, Andy is joined by PFF's salary cap expert - Brad Spielberger to discuss the expectations for Jordan Love's new contract, Green Bay's new contracts from the offseason, and what to expect from Eric Stokes' fifth-year option. Don't miss it!

Yes, thats true, it's always about the money.

Totally agree on the intent to injure. Thought it the first time they showed the replay.
