Monday Afternoon Practice

Aaron's observations from Monday afternoon's practice

Here's what I saw today:

  • Crosby, with yet another new holder, missed his only two attempts. After practice, McCarthy said he is "not concerned about Mason Crosby." That makes one of us.
  • Pat Lee was up and down. The guy has the tools, but he doesn't always seem to be able to break on the ball as fast as he needs to. When he does, he's made a couple of good breakups.
  • Jordy Nelson made another fantastic catch. With Lee in (very good) coverage, Rodgers made a perfect throw on a fade pattern during 7-on-7s and Nelson hauled it in just before falling falling out of bounds.
  • It's pretty obvious that Kevin Greene has an affinity for Obizior. Who knows if that will help the kids cause, but Greene definitely takes every opportunity he can to coach the kid up.
  • The defense is well ahead of the offense, which is completely expected at this point in camp.
  • That said, there were some great plays on the offensive side of the ball, one of the best being a laser from Rodgers to Jennings over the middle during teams.
  • Donald Driver is hilarious no matter what he's doing. I'm going to try and post a couple videos tonight that show how he keeps it fun, even during the drudgery of drill after drill...

Hello Aaron,

Lots of players (even undraft free agents) are under the spotlight since the beginning of the training camp. Nevertheless, I did not hear anything about a key player for the Packers' success this season: B.J. Raji.
Do you have any information about his job as the NT?

Thx.

He looks fine. Hard to get much of a read on any of the players on the interior from the sideline. Its easy to watch and evaluate the tackles and ends, but once you get inside, watching it live, its such a mass of humanity, I feel like I'd just be guessing when it comes to interior line play. That said, we do get to see him/them doing one on ones, and there he has been every bit the monster we have come to expect.

That's a good news. I am looking forward to seeing him (and the rest of the D-line) crushing O-lines... and perhaps Brent Favre.

Oh by the way, I take the opportunity of this post to tell you that I eventually get tickets. You know, I asked you (few months ago) how to get Packers tickets because I am going to the US during October (I actually live in Paris, France). So I finally found tickets for the Monday night football at Soldier field between the Packers and the Bears... I will try to be louder than the teady bears' fans! ;-)
