The only time the packers sucked this year is thanksgiving in detroit. The other games were not that far off. The playoff game againts the 49ers was a damn good game. The only thing that sucked was the last minute of the last drive. I went to the game thinking all I want to see is a close game. The defense was without half its starters then shields goes down, mike neal goes down, datone jones is playing linebacker without ever playing that position. Somehow they held them to 23 points. That day the offense sucked worse than the defense and should have been able to score more than 20 points. Give the defense some credit. Nobody uses injuries as an excuse but at some point you need to get real. There are other good teams out there and nobody has been able to stand out year after year lately. It is a crap shoot in the nfl and all you can do is hang with the pack and hope you get lucky. The packers have done a good job of that and got a ring so why are you still a whiney bitch cowpie? Go cheer for a different team because you ain't cheering here.

Ray... In regard to injuries as an excuse. During the season you will never hear coaches or players use injuries as an excuse. However, once the season is over and you can look back on things, its perfectly plausible to determine the dropoff from a starter being out to his backup and wonder how many games that may have cost you. During the offseason is when you can look back and say "this team would have won x number of games" had these injuries not occurred. Now not every injury costs you games, but there is a cumulative effect, on ST for example, that can end up being a reason for losing a game or two. And when you lose a player of Rodgers ability and importance its easy to see how many games his injury may have cost you. IMO Packers would have been at least 11-5, more likely 12-4 and possibly 13-3 w/ Rodgers for the entire season.

25th in yards allowed. (372.3 per game)
24th in points allowed. (26.8 per game)
25th in rushing yards allowed. (125 per)
24th in passing yards allowed. (247.3)
I'll repeat. These are facts. (note: FYI, there are 32 teams in the NFL, in case you don't know)

Where to start on this one?
1 - when I made the 6-10 prediction I was asked to bet on it (don't remember who wanted to bet or what the stakes were).
Anyhow - they guy who wanted to bet wanted to throw a caveat in nullifying the wager if 12 went down. my response was F THAT! why should my attempt at winning a bet be effected by the lack of attention put into a backup QB plan? not my fault they decided to walk a tightwire without a net.
2 - "made it to the playoffs"... dude, the Packers didn't play themselves in to the playoffs... the rest of the division sucked its way out of the playoffs. they were 8-7-1 for darn's sake.
3 - the only reason they lost by 3 was the weather. i get a kick out of everyone who embraces the fact that the Pack only gave up 23 to the 49'ers in the playoffs like it's some sort of badge of honor. IT WAS LIKE -100 OR SOME SHIT! Any offense would have their balls cut off by that kind of weather.
4 - "yes" i think this Packer team lacks talent in a big way. the offense is not as good as people make it out to be (go check numbers vs actual playoff teams over the last 3 years) and the defense is absolutely putrid... confused, slow, and soft. i don't care what the numbers say - i truly believe that it is the worst defense in the NFL with less talent than any other defense in the NFL. go ahead and try to find another team who's top 3 defensive players are equal to or less than Matthews/Daniels/Shields. worst ILB group in the league. worst safeties in the league.

ClowNEY, I don't agree with everything you say, but I agree with just about everything here. I don't agree on the SF game. I think it was pretty even. Both teams had to play in the weather. In all honesty, AR was off that game. (Maybe cause of the weather), otherwise, I think we would have won it. If you're not right on the defense, you're close. (4thand1), I respect your opinion, but I don't want 10 A.J. Hawks on GB. I don't want any!! I want linebackers who can tackle at the line of scrimmage, not 8 yrd's down field.
Mathews is an above average player, but over rated, & over paid IMO. Shields is too small, but we have no one else. He's no more than an average corner. Williams is also too small. I will say, I thought they both played pretty well at the end. I think we had 1 of the best offenses I've seen in some time, but little by little it we seem to be losing it. Our receiving core was the 1 bright spot on the team. Next year with Cobb, Nelson, & Boykin, it won't be much more than average. All 3 are Great receivers, but just about every team has Great receivers. I don't have the answers. If I had to guess, I'd say, we need to keep Starks, JJ, & Finley if possible, & throw everything we can into Defense. As far as the Franchise Tag goes, there is no one this year, that even comes close to deserving it. Those of you, who don't agree, I respect your opinion, but that's how I see it.

I don't recall anybody sticking up for the defense saying they are the best. It is obvious where improvment is needed. To degrade the team to the point you do is absolutly absurd. Nobody on here is claiming the defense is full of hall of famers. How about the jags, the skins, the cowboys with more playmakers than us? There are 31 other teams for you to go heckle.

Ray, Not sure if you were replying to me, but if you were, I wasn't heckling GB's Defense. I've said a number of times, If Healthy, with Mathews & Jolly, I think our Defensive Line is Decent. The problem as I see it, is behind the defensive line. Aaron Neglar responed to me that A.J. Hawk was having a Pro Bowl year. Others have the same feeling. Are you kidding me? The guy is Terrible, can't you see that? I don't care who's playing next to him. I don't take sides on this post. I speak for myself. The linebacking, as I've said a number of times before, is Pathetic, & A.J. Hawk is the so called leader. Trade him, if anyone will take him. Keep Starks, Keep JJ. (& Finley 1 more year if possible). Try to keep our offense in tact. Whether you agree or not, it's all we have going. Our defense needs to be built up as soon as possible. Shields is a good player, but not worth any Franchise Tag, neither is BJ. Free up whatever money we can, & get some new blood on defense. There are enough guys in college that can fill any of our defensive shoes, especially IL. That's my opinion.

My comments were not directed to you because you are not a constant heckler, you are not constantly saying the packers suck, and foremost you answered my comment with dignity and respect. Your opinion I can respect without having to agree with you. I will disagree about finley every time because for every great play he makes he drops a pass, does something stupid, or gets hurt. He's not a pro bowler and is not worth his price tag. Hawk I will disagree on also. He had his best year. Do you know why? Because nobody else got there first to make the play. Was he great? No. Is his worthy of 1st rd draft status? No. Do I want everybody on defense to be like him? No. Is he doing a solid job? Yes. The only thing worse than your middle linebacker making most of the plays is your safety having to make those plays. That's when our defense would really suck and with the safety play last year there would be a lot more TDs scored on the pack. This defense is ripe for a major turnover and raji/shields are probably not worth what some teams will pay them but could fill a role at the right price.

Ray, I agree with you 1000% on Finley. He has yet to show me, that he can catch a ball, in or out of traffic. I was willing to give him another year because of his age. I just didn't see Hawk having a good year, maybe I'm missing something. Like you, I want what is best for the Pack. I'll be the 1st to say, I don't know what the pack needs to do to fix things. I'm glad we can agree to disagree on different things. I'm a fan of JJ's. I'm going to be sorry if he leaves. Your comment to me was also with respect. Thanks!!
