Packers add CB Parry Nickerson, place Martin, Ento on IR

The speedy Nickerson is a former sixth round pick for the Jets

The Packers announced a series of moves one day after setting their initial 53 man roster.

The team placed CB Kabion Ento and LB Kamal Martin on injured reserve and signed CB Parry Nickerson.

Nickerson (5-10, 182), a third-year player out of Tulane University, was originally drafted by the New York Jets in the sixth round (No. 179 overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he played in 16 games with two starts for the Jets, recording 19 tackles (16 solo) and a pass defensed. Nickerson was traded on Aug. 31, 2019, to the Seattle Seahawks. He spent part of last season on the practice squads of the Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars before being promoted to the Jaguars’ active roster, where he went on to play in four games with one start. Nickerson will wear No. 35 for the Packers.

Nickerson, he is smallish, fast but not quick and has bounced around the league. Meh. I see him back on the PS when others get healthy. Still, I expect that with time and Grey coaching him he improves. Depth at corner is important, even on the PS.

It's interesting that they went outside the organization (and have to go through the Covid protocols) rather than promoting a guy who has been practicing within the systme (like Samuels) off the PS. Is Samuels dinged up?

Thinking the same thing Dobs... Wonder what the thought process was on that decision. Speed? Was Samuels actually as slow as suspected? Experience? Special Teams?
Slot vs Boundary?
