Looking at the 40 Players Who Have Caught a Touchdown Pass From Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is fast closing in on 400 touchdown passes for his NFL career. Entering this week’s game against the Eagles, A-Rod has thrown 397 TDs to 40 different receivers since he joined the NFL in 2005. Here is a breakdown of all the players who have caught a regular-season touchdown pass from Rodgers with some notes about some memorable touchdown plays they made.

40. TE Jace Sternberger (1)

Sternberger’s first career regular season touchdown came in the Packer 35-20 win over the Houston Texans in Week 7 this season. It came from three-yards out and gave the Packers a 14-0 lead. Sternberger previously caught a TD pass in the NFC Championship Game against San Francisco last season.

39. WR Malik Taylor (1)

Taylor’s first career NFL touchdown also came against Houston earlier this season. The undrafted rookie from Ferris State snagged a one-yard TD toss from Rodgers just before halftime to give the Pack a 21-0 lead.

38. TE Ryan Taylor (1)

Taylor caught one pass as a Packer in 2011 but it was a four-yard touchdown in the Packers Week 13 46-16 win against Oakland. It was the only touchdown catch of Taylor’s four-year NFL career. In addition to playing parts of four seasons with the Packers, Taylor played for the Browns and Ravens in 2014.

37. FB Aaron Ripkowski (1)

Fullback Aaron Ripkowski’s touchdown pass from Rodgers came in the 2016 season finale in Detroit. His seven-yard pass from Rodgers gave the Packers a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter en route to a 31-24 Green Bay win.

36. TE Justin Perillo (1)

Perillo’s lone NFL touchdown pass came in the closing minute of the Packers 18-16 loss to the Lions at Lambeau Field in 2016. He grabbed an 11-yard pass from Rodgers that gave the Pack a chance to tie the game, but the two-point conversion attempt failed and the Lions held on for the victory.

35. WR Ruvell Martin (1)

Martin spent the first three years of his seven-year NFL career in Green Bay. His final season with the Packers was Rodgers’ first year as the starter. He caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers in the Packers 51-29 loss to the Saints in New Orleans in 2008.

34. WR Jeff Janis (1)

The speedy Saginaw Valley State product caught his only regular season touchdown pass from Rodgers in 2016 in Atlanta. The seven-yard pass gave the Packers a 32-26 lead with 3:58 left in the game but the defense couldn’t hold the lead and the Packers fell 33-32 in an NFC Championship Game preview.

33. FB Korey Hall (1)

Hall had the honor of catching Rodgers’ first touchdown as a starter during the season opener in 2008. It was a one-yard toss in the second quarter that put the Packers ahead 7-3. The Packers won the game 24-19 as Rodgers ran for one touchdown in addition to his TD pass to Hall. Hall spent five seasons with the Packers including the 2010 Super Bowl season.

32. RB Ryan Grant (1)

Grant was a good running back for the Packers, topping 1,000 yards in 2008 and 2009. He caught a 17-yard touchdown pass with 1:04 left in the first half against the Bears in Chicago in 2008. The Packers lost the game 20-17. Grant caught an 80-yard touchdown pass as a Packer in 2011, but it was from backup quarterback Matt Flynn.

31. WR Trevor Davis (1)

Davis was best known as a return specialist during his time in Green Bay, but he did catch a touchdown pass from Rodgers in Atlanta in 2016. The nine-yard pass put the Packers ahead 21-13 in the second quarter in a game the Packers eventually lost 33-32. This was the only touchdown pass of Davis’ career.

30. TE Jared Cook (1)

Cook’s most memorable moment with the Packers came in the team’s thrilling playoff win in Dallas in 2016, but he did catch one TD pass from Rodgers during an injury-plagued regular season. The six-yard grab pulled the Packers to within 29-24 in a 42-24 road loss to Washington.

29. TE Brandon Bostick (1)

Bostick’s only regular season touchdown pass from Rodgers came in one of A-Rod’s best career games. Rodgers threw six touchdown passes in the first half of a 55-14 win over the Bears at Lambeau in 2014. The one-yard touchdown pass opened the scoring and gave the Packers an early 7-0 lead.

28. WR Jarrett Boykin (1)

Boykin caught three touchdowns in 2013, but only one of them came from Rodgers. It was a 20-yard haul in the fourth quarter of a 31-13 victory over the Browns at Lambeau Field. That touchdown closed out the scoring. His other two TD catches came from backup Matt Flynn.

27. WR Jake Kumerow (2)

Kumerow caught two touchdown passes from Rodgers, one in 2018 and one in 2019. His first NFL score was a 49-yard pass against the Jets in the Meadowlands that put the Pack ahead 14-7 in an eventual 44-38 overtime victory. Kumerow was always a fan favorite during his tenure in Green Bay.

26. TE Lance Kendricks (2)

Kendricks spent two seasons in Green Bay, 2017 and 2018. His first score as a Packer was a one-yard toss from Rodgers against the Bengals at Lambeau Field that tied the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. The Packers went on to win 27-24 in overtime.

25. RB Brandon Jackson (2)

Jackson spent four years with Green Bay including the 2010 Super Bowl-winning campaign. His lone touchdown reception that season came in the second quarter of the Packers 45-7 romp over the Cowboys at Lambeau Field. Jackson ran for a score in addition to catching a nine-yard TD pass from Rodgers in that game.

24. WR/RB Ty Montgomery (3)

Montgomery started his career with the Packers as a wide receiver but eventually shifted to running back when the team’s need at that position was greater due to injury. He caught two touchdown passes during his rookie season of 2015 including an eight-yard grab that opened the scoring during the Packers 38-28 home win over the Chiefs in Green Bay.

23. TE Tom Crabtree (3)

Crabtree mostly earned his keep on special teams and as a blocker although he was a good red zone target for the Packers as well. His longest score as a Packer came on the final play of Green Bay’s 31-17 win over the Cardinals when he scored on a 72-yard pass from Rodgers to seal a Packers victory.

22. TE Marcedes Lewis (4)

“Big Dog” remains the only first-round draft choice to catch a touchdown pass from Rodgers in his NFL career. He earned that distinction in 2019 when he caught a one-yard touchdown pass against the Giants in the snow during the Packers 31-13 win at the Meadowlands.

21. TE Andrew Quarless (4)

Quarless was thrust into a starting role as a rookie in 2010 when Jermichael Finley went down with an injury. Although he was not as explosive as Finley, Quarless developed into a reliable receiving tight end and remained with the Pack for six seasons. His first NFL score was a nine-yard catch from Rodgers against the Vikings in a home game the Packers won 28-24.

20. TE Spencer Havner (4)

Havner caught seven passes in his three years with the Pack but four of them went for touchdowns. He scored twice in one game during Green Bay’s 38-26 loss to the Vikings at home in 2009 on passes of 16 and five yards.

 19. RB James Starks (5)

When injuries struck the Green Bay running backs in 2010, Starks stepped in and played well on that Super Bowl-winning team. He grabbed a 13-yard scoring pass from Rodgers to open the scoring in the Packers 28-7 win over Dallas at Lambeau in 2015.

18. TE Jimmy Graham (5)

Graham was a major disappointment for Packers fans after Green Bay made him the league’s highest-paid tight end in 2018. He spent two seasons with the Packers and scored a total of five touchdowns. Graham scored the only touchdown in the Packers 10-3 season-opening victory over the Bears in Chicago in 2019 that helped set the tone for the season. It came on an eight-yard pass.

17. WR Allen Lazard (6)

Lazard seemingly came from nowhere to become the Packers WR2 in 2019 and has held that spot when healthy in 2020. Lazard’s coming out party came in the Packers come from behind 23-22 victory over Detroit in Week 6. He caught four passes for 65 yards including a key 35-yard touchdown pass that helped the Packers pull off their comeback.

16. RB Aaron Jones (6)

Jones developed into a dangerous receiver in 2019 and remains a threat to score any time he touches the football. His best receiving game came against the Chiefs in 2019 when he caught seven passes for 159 yards and two scores. The first was a four-yard TD pass that opened the scoring. He followed that with a 67-yarder that provided the winning score in the Pack’s 31-24 win in Kansas City.

15. RB Jamaal Williams (6)

Williams is the Packers most reliable receiving running back. His touchdown pass against the Chiefs last year was memorable and incredibly difficult. The three-yard catch came in the back of the end zone after Rodgers scrambled away from pressure. Williams got both feet down with a defender draped all over him.

14. RB Eddie Lacy (6)

Lacy wasn’t known as a breakaway receiving threat, but in the Packers 55-14 romp over the Bears in 2014, the former Alabama star scored on a 56-yard pass from Rodgers in the second quarter that gave the Pack a 35-0 lead.

13. WR Geronimo Allison (6)

Allison caught six of Rodgers’ touchdown passes. One of his most memorable came early in the fourth quarter of the Packers incredible 24-23 comeback win over the Bears to open the 2018 season. Allison made a great 39-yard grab to pull the Pack to within 20-10 in one of Rodgers’ more memorable comebacks.

12. FB John Kuhn (7)

Kuhn was usually a check down receiver for Rodgers, but he was also a reliable red zone target. Kuhn had a three touchdown game against the Giants in 2010 including two rushing touchdowns and a five yard toss from Rodgers in the fourth quarter during the Packers 45-17 win that kept Green Bay’s playoff hopes alive.

11. WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (8)

MVS is a dangerous deep threat who is always a threat to score. He had two touchdowns against San Francisco this season including a sliding one-yard catch after a Rodgers scramble and a 52-yard bomb that took full advantage of Valdes-Scantling’s outstanding speed.

10. TE Robert Tonyan (9)

Tonyan is rapidly moving up the list with seven touchdown catches this year. He had three of them in one game, the Packers 30-16 win over the Falcons this season. The first was from 19 yards out in the second quarter, followed less than two minutes later with an eight-yard pass that put the Pack comfortably ahead at halftime. In the third quarter, Tonyan clinched the win with a 21-yard scoring play that put his team up 27-9.

9. TE Donald Lee (9)

Lee was a big target over the middle for the Packers and played with both Brett Favre and Rodgers. He caught a key 12-yard touchdown pass in Green Bay’s 34-14 win over the Colts at Lambeau in 2008 and was one of A-Rod’s favorite red zone targets during his first year as a starter.

8. TE Richard Rodgers (13)

Richard Rodgers caught 13 touchdown passes from Aaron Rodgers, but the most famous will always be the Hail Mary that beat the Lions in Detroit on the last play of the game in 2015. The 61-yard bomb was on an untimed play that gave the Packers in improbable 27-23 victory.

7. TE Jermichael Finley (13)

Finley was the most dangerous deep threat of all the tight ends Rodgers threw to during his Packers career so far. He caught a 62-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers in the Packers 30-23 loss the Vikings in Minnesota in 2009. That was the longest touchdown catch of Finley’s career that was unfortunately cut short by injuries. Finley is the highest ranked non-wide receiver on this list.

6. WR Donald Driver (22)

Driver’s career was winding down by the time Rodgers took over as Green Bay’s starting quarterback in 2008 but the Packers all-time leading receiver still caught 22 touchdown passes from A-Rod. That includes a 71-yard bomb against the Browns in 2009 that helped the Pack to a 31-3 win in Cleveland.

5. WR Greg Jennings (38)

Jennings was a deep threat and a reliable route runner and that always made him a dangerous receiving weapon. He had the honor of catching Rodgers’ first career touchdown pass, an 11-yard catch just before halftime in the Packers 37-27 loss to the Cowboys in Dallas.

4. WR Randall Cobb (39)

Cobb had many great moments with Rodgers but the most memorable clinched a playoff berth for the Packers during the season finale in 2013 against the Bears in Chicago. Facing fourth down and long with less than a minute to go, Rodgers found Cobb on a 48-yard play to clinch the NFC North title. Both Cobb and Rodgers had missed several games due to injury and were just back in the lineup for this big game. It was a magic moment that kept the Packers playoff streak alive.

3. WR James Jones (41)

Jones had two stints with the Packers and his size and hands always made him a reliable target. Jones’ best game came in 2012 when he scored all three of the Packers touchdowns in a 21-13 win over the Bears. The first was a 29-yard catch that tied the game at 7-7 in the second quarter. He later caught eight and six yard touchdown passes as the Pack improved to 10-4 while dropping the Bears to 8-6.

2. WR Davante Adams (50)

Adams is now Rodgers favorite and most dangerous target and has a chance to take over the top spot on this list if he stays healthy and remains in Green Bay. He already has 11 touchdown passes this season despite missing several games due to injury. His longest career touchdown pass came in the Packers 38-10 win over the Seahawks at Lambeau Field in 2016, a 66-yard catch. Adams is one of the best receivers in the league right now.

1. WR Jordy Nelson (65)

For years, Nelson was Rodgers’ preferred target. The speedy Kansas State product caught three touchdowns in the Packers 42-24 win over the Texans in Houston in 2012 including a 41-yarder that opened the scoring. Nelson finished the game with nine catches for 121 yards and three scores. He and Rodgers had a unique chemistry and they were able to communicate with just a glance or a wink. Nelson was almost unstoppable on the back shoulder pass.

So, who will catch Rodgers’ 400th touchdown pass? We shall soon see.

Gil, great article. I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing the data and recognizing most all the names of Rodger's targets over the years. Thanks for putting that one together for us. Strong thumbs up on this one.

I wonder how many on the list after leaving Green Bay were out of the NFL .

That would take a bit more research. The key question is would that number be higher than most other teams? Thanks for the comment, Lphill.

That's quite a list. I don't even remember a couple of these guys (Hall, Havner). How long did it take you to compile this? I hope you've been chipping away at it for a while instead of having to do it all at once.

And of course, only one first-round round draft pick in the entire bunch....A number of second-rounders, though, especially near the top.

It took a while, but I enjoyed the research. Yes, only one first rounder, but plenty of talent on this list. Thanks for the comment, splitpea1.

No surprise Jordy caught the most TD's from Rodgers. Anybody know who caught the most from Favre? I'd guess either Freeman or Driver.

13timeschump we know you live for stats and thrive on them , who needs Superbowl wins right? You must have loved 2011 going 15 and 1 and losing in the divisional round , but hey the offense had great stats right?

I'd have to do some research on that 13TimeChamps, but I agree it would be Driver or Freeman. Maybe I'll work on that during the offseason. Thanks for the comment.

Much has been made in the media of the lack of TDs from Rodgers to 1st rd draft picks (4 all to Lewis), what no one ever mentions is that he probably has thrown more TD's to 2nd rd draft picks than any QB in NFL history.

The list of 2nd rd picks he has TD's to is pretty damn impressive. It also underscores that if you have a truly Elite NFL QB, its basically a waste of draft capital to use a 1st on WR. An Elite QB, like Rodgers, makes otherwise very good WR into Great WR. Among them Jennings, Jordy, Cobb and Adams. This is not to say they weren't excellent WR, but Rodgers has made each much better.

If you have an average QB, then you use a 1st on an Elite WR to make the QB better, but if you have an Elite QB, you get him very good WR and let him help them become Great.

Thanks for the comment, Stroh. I think Rodgers had a lot of talented receivers for most of his career. Can the Pack use more depth and talent at WR right now? Absolutely. The 1st round pick stat is interesting but to me, it's hardly a big deal. Look at the WRs in 2010 or 2014 or even 2018. There is talent and depth and it showed.

There is a very short list of opponents who have a pick 6.
I am guessing that he forgot Janis because it happened in the playoffs.

Yes, not too many Pick-6s against A-Rod during his career. The Janis play was in the playoffs and this list only involved Rodgers' 397 regular season TD passes. Thanks for the comment, PatrickGB, always good to hear from you.
