Lombardi's 1965 Championship Sweater On Sale For $175,000
Get out your wallets and check your bank accounts Packer fans, because the most expensive piece of Packer's memorabilia ever is up for sale. Vince Lombardi's game-worn 1965 NFL Championship sweater is up for grabs at Brigandi Coins & Collectibles in New York City for $175,000.
How exactly did this sweater make its way to 2018? When Lombardi was hired by the Redskins after coaching the Packers, he invited former Redskins owner Edward Bennett Williams and his son over to his house to watch the playoffs. Lombardi was wearing it that day, and the two joked about how he couldn't wear Packer gear anymore as a Redskins staff member. So, Lombardi shipped the sweater to Williams and his son shortly after as a gift. Included is a Letter of Provenance from Williams' son and a certified authentication by MEARS (a third party authentication company).
