Lions OL Dominic Raiola Suspended for Packers Game on Sunday

Detroit Lions offensive lineman Dominic Raiola has been suspended by the NFL without pay for one game, which happens to be the upcoming regular-season finale against the Green Bay Packers with the NFC North title at stake.

Raiola was suspended for a violation of safety-related rules in this past Sunday's game agains the Chicago Bears, his sixth safety-related rules violation since 2010.

According to a release by the NFL:

In the third quarter of Sunday’s game, Raiola stomped on the leg of Bears defensive tackle Ego Ferguson at the conclusion of a play, violating Rule 12, Section 2, Article 12 (b) of the NFL Rule Book prohibiting 'kicking or kneeing an opponent.' Raiola has been previously disciplined five times since 2010, including once earlier this season, for safety-related rules violations.

The suspension was imposed by NFL Vice President of Football Operations Merton Hanks. Raiola will not be permitted to attend team meetings and functions; attend or watch practices; appear at the club’s facilities for any reason; attend press conferences; appear at the team’s December 28 game, or have contact with any club personnel except to arrange off-site medical treatment or rehabilitation. Raiola will be reinstated on Monday, December 29.

Raiola has three days to appeal the suspension, which will be heard and decided by either Derrick Brooks or Ted Cottrell, the officers jointly appointed and compensated by the NFL and NFLPA to decide appeals of on-field player discipline.

In October of 2013, Raiola apologized and made a donation to the University of Wisconsin marching band for verbally harrassing band members during a game against the Packers at Lambeau Field.

Raiola is the starting center on the Lions offense line and brother to former University of Wisconsin player Donovan Raiola.

I read yesterday Douche-tastic Dom never made the donation he promised. Shocker, I know. I should've probably warned you to set down your drink before you read it.

I can't find anything saying he actually paid. I heard on WSSP that the Lions team bailed him out and made a donation in his name.

Can you imagine showing up to work everyday and having to be around people like Fairley, Suh, Raiola and Ansah? Delmas left so it could actually be worse.
