Key Matchups: Week 14 Home Sweet Home

Here are some key matchups that will help lead the Packers to victory this Sunday.

After a much-needed win on Sunday the Packers look to continue their winning ways Sunday Afternoon.  If the Packers consider themselves to be a true player in the NFC playoff picture, they need to take care of business and runaway with this game early.  There is no sense sugar coating my feelings about this game; FanDuel has set this game at a 13 point spead for a reason, The Packers are good and the Redskins stink.  I know everyone is going to say the Redskins have a chance in this game because they came back from two scores down in Carolina.  The problem with that logic is Kyle Allen has come back to earth, their defense has fallen apart, and Ron Rivera lost his team and his job.  The Packers are trending up right now and I expect it to be a party at Lambeau, I'll be there, will you?

Key Matchups:

1. Brian Bulaga vs. Montez Sweat:

Obviously, when healthy, Ryan Kerrigan is the Redskins stud defensive player but Montez Sweat could be prove to be a tough matchup for Brian Bulaga.  Sweat's combination of agility, strength, and speed could prove to be a deadly combination for Bulaga who is playing with an MCL injury.  I look for the Packers to give their tackles help with Marcedes Lewis and Dany Vitale.

2. Davante Adams vs. Fabian Moreau:

Moreau was able to come away with an interception in Washington's victory over Carolina last week.  This week he will be asked to shut down one of the three key members of the Packers offense.  We saw last week that the Packers offense was jumpstarted by Davante Adams early touchdown.  I'm sure, Aaron Rodgers will look to get Adams heavily involved in the offense early to set the tone against Washington this Sunday and get the Packers off to an early lead.

3. Kenny Clark vs. Darius Guice:

Guice has certainly emerged the last few weeks and should be treated as a viable threat.  The key to shutting down the Redskins offense will be to make rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins completely one dimensional.  In order to do that, Kenny Clark is going to have to get a ton of A-Gap pressure and spend the day in the backfield stifling the Redskins rushing attack.

4. Jaire Alexander vs. Terry McLaurin:

The former Ohio State Buckeye has certainly been a boom or bust player this season and ironically the majority of his busts have been with his college teammate Dwayne Haskins at quarterback.  Jaire Alexander has been a victim of the big play at times this season, and at 3-9, I certainly see Haskins testing his luck against Alexander.  Jaire better be on top of his game or the game could be a lot more interesting than it should be.

Prediction:

I honestly don't have much faith in Haskins, and since this is a quarterback league, I see the Packers taking full advantage of having one of the best to ever play the position.  Give me the Packers in a 28-14 victory.

The Packers and MLF have talked about going 1-0 each week all season. Focus and put all your efforts into the opponent your playing THIS week and take care of business. Tomorrow would be an easy game to "Look Ahead" to the Bears coming to Lambeau. Take care of business tomorrow then worry about smashing the Bears. Just focus on going 1-0 this weekend and then focus on going 1-0 six more times right into February.

The Packers match up well against the Redskins. Keep Haskins in front of you on Defense and pinch him. DON"T let him get around the edges and the Packers will win BIG!

This will be another tough game for us as Skins are playing better and have played both the Vikes and Niners in close games. They have a solid D, but not against the run. Wouldn't it be nice if we could finally get our rushing attack up to expectations. Packers will again pull away in the middle of the 3rd quarter 30- 17.

All the articles I’m seeing that predict a big win have me worried. We aren’t so good that we can consider any game a slam dunk. Hopefully the team is not looking past anyone, especially with the Viqueens only a game behind us. Go Pack, go!

Now were worrying about Sweat. Be glad it's not wilkins. Ross said Polite would be a better pro. I said Sweat. Just think if we took Wilkins @12 instead of Gary . And traded up for Sweat instead of Savage. Oh well just food for thought.. Packers win big.

It sounds good to say that players like Clark, Bulaga, Adams & Alexander need to have a big day, but the bottom line is they're going up against professional players & coaches. A lot of times the opposing team knows your strengths and are game-planning to negate them. If they don't think they can win a matchup with a single player, they'll use two.

It's a cat & mouse game that coaches & coordinators try to win every week.

Tomorrow will be my sons' first game - at 6 and 4, they've done the Lambeau tour, concerts in the lot, tons of weekends at the Titletown park, but never a live in person game. I'd love for them to leave their first game surrounded by GO PACK GO chants as they walk back out the Oneida Nation Gate.

Personally, rather than looking to get Adams involved early and often, how about establishing the running game, even those short passes that are actually extended handoffs? How about spreading the ball around to different receivers, so the defense can't concentrate on one player, and the other WR's know they also have to be ready to catch a pass, rather than run a route and watch the ball be thrown to DA again and again. How about getting the team into a rhythm, varying the snap counts rather than running the clock down to two seconds or less every play? Why not go back to what worked while Adams was hurt, only with new wrinkles on old patterns to throw off the defense and keep them on their heels?

Just right, thats the key to everything. Use what we have better and we have too good receivers to throw to the Davante on every play...…..

The Redskins are not coming to Lambeau Field to lose. Do not overlook this game and into the following week against the Bears. Stay focused on the game this week and going 1-0. Then, and only then, prepare for the next opponent. The Packers could easily be 11-1 had they not taken the Chargers and Eagles so lightly. Do what needs done this week and fix what needs fixed to remain on top of the NFC North. Take control of the immediate need, one game at a time.

Redskins are going to try to pound it with Guice and Peterson against our struggling run d. They want to play ball control. This one could be too close for comfort. Still like the Packers to win but it might be close.

Packers need to play 4 quarters of dominant football in all aspects, this is what’s expected against teams like the Redskins. No excuses!

14 to 6 at halftime not how you put teams away, Packers look like they rather be somewhere else.
