True!

Look, I see that the thumb-down crowd is out in full force against any critics. But King doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt just as Josh Jones didn't.

King hasn't proven a damn thing. In 2 seasons. While the jury may still be out, the honus is on him 100%.

Kevin King has same injury history with Packers as Aaron Jones has and better than Aaron Rodgers when we are talking last 2 seasons. Imagine...

Just you do not like Kevin King because of TJ Watt and you can not overcome that!

When Kevin King is in the game he is shutdown corner (even Julio Jones did nothing playing against Kevin King!) and you are so good scouts that you can tell us he is bust?

You two must have a lot of offers to become head scouts of numerous teams in NFL...

King deserves to be allowed to play and show what he can do. He has never been a malign presence or a faker of injuries so just let him perform.

You don’t know his physical prognosis and nor do I, So there is no wisdom in just harping in about things. If anything it just sounds largely like you just want to be right about something that helps nobody even if you are.

If he is healthy our roster is better. Time will tell how much and how long. In the meantime, let’s move on.

The Josh Jones comment is just so silly. Jones couldn’t play when on the field and perhaps wouldn’t play later. That’s a legitimate thing to go after. King has never been remotely in that category. If King is healthy, I don’t have an issue with his play. As he is healthy, let’s just hope he stays that way.

Good post Coldworld. I've never understood why fans get upset with players who are injured. When King has been healthy and has played our defense has been better. I doubt that he or any other player wants to be injured and unavailable to play. Thanks, Since '61

Nice,Ricky! I came across a reference to John Galt the other day in a list that included the Scarlet Pimpernel. I was curious as I hadn't realized our CHTV commentor here was using a name from a book. When I goggled it I found that, "Who is John Galt?" was a comment used throughout a novel and, in it's day, as famousa saying as the modern day, "I thought you were dead." for our commentor Snake Plisken. I suspect the person who disliked this comment didn't get the reference. :)

Pro sports is littered with stories of players who struggle with injuries early on, but get past it and have good, solid careers. Unfortunately, there are a lot more stories of guys who can't stay healthy and wash out.

Here's hoping that the former fits here because the Packers defense is better when King is on the field.

You are right Dobber. We don’t realize or see or feel how football is so physical. A game that can be violent in nature. Yes, the new rules do protect players, but injuries effect so many careers. Just hoping the Packers aren’t devastated by injuries like some years. The healthy teams up the odds to get into the playoffs. Once there anything can happen. Go Pack.

Some players and people go through a period in their physical development when they are just seemingly injury prone. While for some it’s permanent, for many it is passing. Only sure thing is that none of us here have a clue really.

If I were your coach, youd know how to mind your own business and not attack a person who has not attacked you on this board. I never said a word to you, or about you. I simply stated my correct opinion of King...

You chose to take this to a personal attack... If I were your coach, you'd do mountain climbers till you puke for that.

And NO... you DON'T get a participation trophy for it... LOL

I wouldn't want you for a coach either.

Kevin King has played in 15 games for the Packers, a little less than half of those with injuries to his groin and hamstring. 1 INT, 7 PD, 1 FR, 2 TFL 44 tackles. King is also incredibly difficult to score on in the red zone.

The guy is tougher than many know, and, hell, you haven't seen him play? What kind of fan are you?

King first tore his labrum as a Freshman at U Washington. He played all 4 years with that injury, having surgery to repair it prior to the draft. He then tore the other one as a rookie. In 4 seasons with the Huskies he had 6 iNT and 22 PD, 164 tackles. 9.5 TFL. 2 FF. 2 FR. The player is unafraid as a tackler. Great ball skills. All hustle. King played Safety, Nickel & CB. He's great covering the slot, at 6-3 200 4.43 with a 39.5" vertical.

Add to this, he is a fantastic, upstanding, intelligent, young gentleman. Try reading about him sometime.

Give Kevin King a break from your childish, ignorant, unnecessary jabs, and try supporting him for a change. He could prove to be a very important player for the Packers. Why diss him for reasons out of his control?

I can't wait for Kevin King to show you and all the rest throwing that incessant kind of garbage you just threw how truly pathetic your digs are. Being a coach you should know better.

You're a Packers fan? Why would you say that about a Packers player so important to the success of this team, and such a great, well rounded guy trying to make up for lost time? Makes zero sense to me...

You brought that upon yourself man.

I’m still wondering how much he will play and if Brown won’t start. Either way, they will be testing one of them. Not sure it’s the biggest test a Packers DB will face this year though.

PS, sorry, posted before I got to LP’s post below

Test him with what exactly? Mitch’s great accuracy? No Jordan Howard...

This is going to be against the smiths, Amos, Alexander, King and maybe a little tramon Williams and Savage. Bears defense is good, not going to lie BUT Mitch is going to be throwing some picks this game.

I’m hoping because they aren’t relying on Howard anymore who was an extremely productive RB. Now... they have David Montgomery (who might be good, but is a rookie) Cohen ( who has speed, but in not an everydown back) and a vet Mike Davis.o Other than Miller...Mitch is throwing to vets, but Robinson wasn’t on the team last year or Gabriel...and Gabriel can be good at times...he’s 5’7” and we have guys who can keep up now. If our D can shut down the rushing and trick plays...I think our secondary is going to get some chances.

I don't know if anybody is talking about this yet, but both the Vikings and bears are in a negative salary cap situation next year. Both are already over the cap for next year even with their free agents. Good luck fixing that. Going to have to cut some expensive players.

The thought was that with the hamstring injury, the only real way to heal it was time. So the Packers gave him time, even though MLF was talking about guys playing through injuries/little hurts. Smart move. Maybe it was just bad luck. Maybe it's a trend, ala Matthews and his hamstring problems. We'll find out soon enough, because this is definitely a "make or break" season for him. Gutekunst hasn't shown any interest in keeping guys around who can't cut it. As Tallahassee said in "Zombieland", "Time to nut up or shut up."

I like King alot and want him to succeed more than most. Starters generally aren't supposed to lose their job, especially in preseason, due to injury. In this case however, since King has been out for so long, I would give the start to Tony Brown, because he's been available and played very well. King can sub in and play alot, but give Brown the honor of starting game 1 and send a little (subtle) message to King that he has to be available.

It seems like some just want to be right rather than have a player back that might help. Really not impressive.

I hope they are wrong and that King remains healthy even though I have my doubts. That said I will take a better player added to the 53 whenever I can, and he improves our CB lineup.

I think it's case of being frustrated with Kings inability to stay healthy!
He's got the physical attributes to be a very effective DB but his inability to shake the injury bug is disappointing to say the least. It's encouraging to hear he's ready for the season opener against the Gummy Bears though!

Wow! Not much love here for Kevin King. CroatPackFan is spot on in his comments that King's injury history is similar to Aaron Jones' injury history, but the fan reaction is totally different.

I guess the TJ Watt legacy will always haunt King. Not particularly fair since King had nothing to do with that decision, it was TT's.

I hope King plays well against the Bears. He can be a shutdown corner when healthy.

King makes our line up better. I hope he will stay fit for that reason, but he is not keeping anyone better out, so pulling for him not to be us to pull for the Bears and the Vikings and so on.

I'm rooting for him to succeed and go through the season without missing any games due to injury, but given his past performances I have my doubts. I would like nothing more than for King to assert himself and prove he can play a season on the field instead of on the injured list. I wish him nothing but the best and good health.
