Kevin Greene On Board

I don't know if he can coach a lick, but I loved Kevin Greene as a player.

I love this move.

Similar hairdo to AJ Hawk. I know he is technically OLB coach, but maybe his nasty streak will rub off on Hawk.

Kevin Greene's career speaks for itself; and I am not disputing the hire. However, is it really necessary to have a coach for every player on the field? LOL Can he at least coach all the linebackers, and not just the outside linebackers?

Next they will start hiring a coach for the long snappers, and one for the holder, and one for the kicker. Too many damn coaches. Sorry, rant off.

IronMan - I could not agree more. How many people did Lombardi have on staff?

Just another Caper's pick and assurance that a move from "Bend but not Break" is finally being flushed down the toilet. I've got to assume OLB's play a significantly different game than the ILB's hence a need to specialize. ILB's under Moss? They've got to have something for him to do.

"How many people did Lombardi have on staff?"

According to this, five.

The next innovation will be special coaches to coach the other coaches.

as much as i'm all for fiscal responsibility and keeping things simple when it makes sense -- i doubt greene can have a negative influence on young players. i don't know if he can coach either, but i like the model belichick seemed to follow -- if a guy can help in any way make the team better or more motivated -- invent a position for him. who knows what capers' real job was in new england, but you can bet his absence won't be a positive, simplifying force in new england next year.
