Jordy Nelson to retire

Despite having plenty of interest in his services, former Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson will be retiring from the NFL.

The news was broken by another former Packers wide receiver.

Nelson will be remembered as a great player and teammate, and will undoubtedly head to the Packers Hall of Fame in a few years.

I will forever smile at the memories of Jordy running diagonally across the field with ever-increasing separation after a devastating double move. Classic and classy.

If he keeps in shape could be an option inseason if there's a run of injuries at WR. Just depends if Jordy were willing. He might like the idea of ending in GB, even if its as an emergency fill-in.

Certainly QB1 wouldn't have trust issues with him, even in a new offense. Every year there's a number of fringe guys who in a sense become extended parts of your roster when those break-glass in case of emergency situations occur.

Entirely as usual it will depend on whether Mrs. Nelson yet wants him out of the house during the day

I loved how Jordy would catch the ball along the sidelines and then cut across the field for a TD. No one could catch him!!

If you don't love Jordy, I just don't know how you can call yourself a Packer fan.

Hard to see him coming back to GB given the change in offense.

With all the divas at WR, it was refreshing to see a great humble guy like Jordy play football. Classy player at a position that has way to many classless assholes.

The diva WR died when Chad and TO left besides AB and Odell they’re aren’t many out there these days and even Chad was more of a showman than an actual diva WR.

Guys and Gals it is timr to join me on the Hockenson bandwagon. If you loved Jordy, then your gonna love TJ HOCKENSON at #12. The MOST complete TE in YEARS!! Your gonna love him.

Green Bay Packers | T.J. Hockenson | TE | Iowa
Free agency gave the Packers an opportunity to fill some of their biggest needs on defense, and they took full advantage by adding some of this year’s best available veterans. That should free them up to use this pick on a dynamic weapon for Aaron Rodgers, and Hockenson has all the tools to be an elite playmaker.

Go Pack Go !!

Since '61, Nice sentiment. Not sure how the heck wishing a former beloved Packer player well in retirement somehow garners (at the time of my post) three (3) DISLIKES???? Wow, some posters on this site are going more bonkers every day. What the heck is going on? Regardless, best wishes from me to Jordy as well. One of my all time favorite Packers and an athlete who kids could truly look up to as a role model and one of the "good guys" to emulate. Best of luck to him and his family.

Spock - some of the posters here need to give out the dislikes to make their day. They have nothing else in their lives but to wait for my posts and give out dislikes rather than contribute to the conversation like adults. It is a sad commentary about those posters. But if that is what they live for then I feel sorry for them. I wouldn’t want them in a foxhole with me when the shit hits the fan.

On a more positive note I always enjoy your posts. Be well. Thanks, Since ‘61

The irony being you’re probably the least controversial poster on this site, S61. I’ve never seen you post anything disrespectful or provocative. You’re the Jordy of CHTV. Except, please don’t tear a ligament in your typing finger and retire.

Brad I appreciate your comments. Two losing seasons has altered the disposition of some of the posters here. We have moved from usually cordial discussions about Packers football to more confrontational efforts to push individual agendas. As a result the blog is less collegial and diverse opinions are see as personal attacks rather than contributions to the overall discussions.

As an optimist I’m expecting this is a cyclical process and this will settle down if and when the Packers return to winning ways. Winning solves many issues. Until then, remain calm and carry on. Be well. Thanks, Since ‘61

He goes back to the family farm. But later decides to return because of injuries to our WR corps...because “ How are you gonna keep him down on the farm after he has played in Green Bay?”

Thanks for the memories Jordy! What a great person, player, and teammate! I'll never forget his "ballerina-like" footwork on the sidelines, his long TDs off play action, or his unselfish blocking. I'm not sad at all at his retirement - better a year early than a year too late: What I would really hate is to see him incur a (or another) concussion that would threaten his enjoyment of the rest of his life. Thanks Jordy!

James Jones was on Wilde and Tausch this morning. Said something to the effect of Jordy realized that he could walk away from the game with his body still healthy. Kind of amazing when you think about it that way.
