Is He Really Going To Talk Football?

Yes, yes I am.

Just a brief word about the Packers third round pick second round pick (thanks to commenter Madison Dave for pointing out my error) Patrick Lee after observing him on Family Night.

This kid is the real deal.

Will he make mistakes? Yes. Will he be Deion in his prime? No. But his likley addition to the dime (I see him taking Bush's spot in the first month of the season, if he hasn't by the end of training camp) will help solve a lot of the problems the defense had with getting off the field on third down late in the year.

This is good to hear. However, DBs can't cover forever. If they really want to do a better job of stuffing teams on 3rd downs they need to get after the QB on a more consistent basis; i.e., blitz more.

Well, it's a reciprocal relationship. All the blitzing in the world won't do any good if receivers aren't being jammed off the line. Lee is great on the jam for a rookie and will allow Sanders the freedom to blitz from the dime (if he's up for it)

He was a second round pick. The announcers on TV said 3rd also, but he was after Brohm in the second round. I agree he looked pretty good out there though.

What did you see that you liked about him? You mentioned his ability to jam. Anything else?

I agree with the first poster, though I think the solution is to find more and better pass rushers. I wonder if Favre hadn't retired if they would have used the Brohm pick on a DE? I hope Jeremy Thompson turns into something or Monty or Hunter finally into semi-legitimate pass rushers.

He was with every receiver he was assigned to step for step, always a great sign when looking at a rookie DB. Most times, vets will be able to turn rookies around, esp early in camp. Even on his interference call against Driver on the first series, he was on Driver's hip. (Though I'll admit if Rodgers just leads Driver by a yard more, it's an easy score) After watching Bush get burned time and time again last year, it's an encouraging development.
