In Praise of Aaron Rodgers

Perhaps lost amongst my much written about angst over Bob Sanders is the unbelievable admiration I have for Aaron Rodgers and his incredible display of gamesmanship yesterday. I know Rodgers has stated that Favre's streak had nothing to do with his determination to play yesterday, but come on. You know it's in the back of his head. Indeed, it's in the back of everyone's mind as we watch the beginning of the Rodgers era.

Not only did Rodgers play but he played well. Yes, he threw an inexcusable interception at the end of the game. But as I wrote several times this offseason - there will be bumps in the road. The key is for Rodgers to learn from the big mistake and then not repeat it.

But overall, Rodgers has been one of the more consistent performers on a team that is suddenly quite erratic. Here's hoping McCarthy can get the rest of the team performing at a higher level to take some of  the pressure off Rodgers, because right now, he IS the offense.

My anger was too high yesterday to be able to post but I'm better today (I'm sure this gives everyone a feeling of comfort:)) Rodgers is what I thought he would be - solid. What has me fuming is the offensive and defensive lines and the linebackers. Why do we keep hearing about fundamentals, gap control, pad level, tackling, etc with a group of players that is largely unchanged from last year? I thought this was the year everyone participated in the spring program, OTAs etc. I expected more focus, not less. I am at a loss and there is nothing left for me to break in my house. With respect to Aaron, no one is going to get fired mid-season so I guess I'll just have to beat my head against the wall until December.

behind jennings, rodgers is the most consistent player on this team. The guy has pro bowl written all over him if the team around him steps up. And some coaching, please.

Even Jennings has been having crucial drops. No, Rodgers is the best player on offense at this point, and it's not really close.

I agree. If not for Rodgers on offense and Woodson on defense. We would be 0-5 instead of 2-3. If you aren't excited about Rodgers being a Packer then you aren't a Packer fan. As for the OL and DL..... Grab some fans from the stands and start em. We can't do any worse.
