Gut Reactions: Packers 29 Vikings 29

  • The NFL hates football.
  • That said, the Packers died of self-inflicted wounds today.
  • Jaire Alexander is a player.
  • You can not roll out Kyler Fackrell with the game on the line and expect to be taken seriously.
  • Way too many 3rd and long situations on offense. The Packer struggle with those when Rodgers is healthy, let alone on one leg.
  • The holding call on Lane Taylor was atrocious.
  • As was the roughing call on Matthews.
  • The running game was a pleasant surprise when McCarthy wasn't ignoring it.
  • And yes, I'm sorry, but the Packers had to overcome the refs and their coach today and just couldn't do it.
  • After the Clinton-Dix interception, just run the damn ball.
  • I love the Jamaal Williams shimmy after he picks up a first down.
  • Davante Adams is a bad man after the catch.
  • The Vikings kicker just missed another field goal.
  • Mason Crosby is a weapon. Tough miss at the end of regulation but still a hell of a day.
  • Geronimo Allison is turning into a really solid player.
  • I hate ties.
  • I need a drink.
  • Go Pack.

I never thought that the NFL would be able to make me start to lose interest in the game, but they're actually starting to do it. Too many times games are swung based on some totally subjective call on a defensive penalty or perhaps on the definition of a catch. It's actually really getting less fun to watch, IMO.

Agree Idiot Fan. I just spent/wasted over 4 hours of my day watching what I believe is football but I have to question that now. Win or lose as a fan you just want a fair and honest outcome. Today we didn't come close to fair. The Matthews hit on the qb could be the straw that broke us the fans' back. The game should have been over at that point. Shame on the NFL if this is the product they want on the field.!!

It makes you wonder if refs are controlling games for the “new” betting policies. Refs and the NFL brass are in collusion when it comes to wrecking games. I agree with you all, but I’m going to continue watching.

it wasnt just the fake Clay call, or even the terrible call of holding on Taylor by an official 40yds away. Generally, the officiating was not up to standard throughout the game.

Yes....exactly. I would like the NFL to tell me what IS a legal tackle and how this was any different than what happened to Aaron earlier. Also, i would like to see some of their bleeping lawyers tell us all how you are supposed to tackle without following through.

This happened in other games I watched this year and i'ts atrocious! I can't watch anymore of this and hear their BS explanation.

I celebrated a win 3 or 4 times in that game, refs killed us. So did MM.

. Hope King is ok, we obviously need him

. Or OLBs are a mess

. Our D looked absolutely horrible in the 4th quarter ... 3 TDs and a 2 pt

. We can go 5-0-1 before the bye, unless our D collapses again

Take away the interception or add the Graham
Interception, either, and the stats would look very different.

Cook did little on the ground. Cousins did through a perfect pass on the long 75 yarder to get back in the game. Need to give credit where it is due.

After being a fan of the NFL since the early 70's I never thought I'd be there with you Idiot but it's starting to happen to me too. Sports is all about the highs and the lows, but the highs should stay highs and the lows should stay lows. Now after every play I find myself hesitating, rather than immediately cheering or cringing, as I wait to see if there is a penalty, was there a timeout, will it be overruled on the replay, etc.. Sports isn't supposed to be like that, I might as well record the game and watch the highlights, the instant drama is gone. I find myself having no interest in watching any other games that don't involve the Packers, and I used to be good for 5-6 games a week, and every single playoff game. Think about that Goodell.

I'm with you, Norm. It's not much fun anymore to watch an NFL game for all the reasons you've stated so well.

I'd add the camera work is excellent at times, but whomever calls the production shots makes any kind of flow impossible. If it's not multiple replays, it's close-ups of the head coach, DC, OC whoever on the sideline, or some dipshit in the stands, between plays. What if they allowed us to watch the damn game?

It's a farce all to often with the outcome predicated by the whims of the refs who will call the same play one way and totally different the next time.

About mid-week we'll get a mea culpa from the NFL on the call leaving me to wonder why do I take any of this seriously.

MM .........wastes timeouts, passing with under 2 minute and 1st down and a lead, having QB f—- around and drawing penalties from both teams and wasting timeouts, retaining an inept ST coach, and giving absolutely inane press conferences.

Yep, running the ball after the 2:00 minute warning, would have at least taken away two time-outs, but I agree that we needed a touchdown. Thought the best time to throw and go for the touchdown was when there was 2:05 on the clock and a 1st down. But, I don't blame MM here.

We went for the clincher and it did not work out. We should have won the game anyways.....but oops, forgot refs control the outcome in the NFL.

I am a member of the anti-MM club. I have no problem with the late playcalling. All I ask when the team needs a first down or points to seal the game is that the call should be appropriate given the defensive personnel and what they are showing.

I thought those two plays especially the pass to Davante in the end zone had a solid chance of plunging the dagger into MN.

There was also a helmet to helmet on Adams while he was on the turf, on that play, that wasn't called. We should have had the ball, first and goal, on the 1 if the refs would have thrown a flag.

Nerd and Idiot, I don't agree with either of you. I feel the Vikings offense was better, making the plays when they needed to be made, scoring TDs instead of FGs. I feel the Vikings play calling was better than the Packers (but that's a given every week, regardless who the Packers play). I feel the Vikings defense was better than the Packers and the 4th quarter defense by the Packers was ridiculously horrible (again, that's a given every week particularly in the 4th quarter).

Disagree on the defense. I think they played solid and made enough plays to win. There's nothing they could do about the officiating. It was 11 vs 18 on that field today. I found it interesting on the Adams TD pass from Rodgers that was called incomplete the refs had absolutely no problem with Harrison Smith drilling a defenseless receiver who made no football move in the helmet with his own helmet and shoulder pads. I promise you if that had been a Vikings receiver they would have called a personal foul.

You are correct, anyone watching knows the Packers were winning all day, those calls were crucial. It was like they were trying to keep it close to make up for all the expert predicting that Minnesota was going to win this. Call Direct TV and threaten to change your service provider. Now I've paid for Sunday Ticket EVERY year since 2010. I've gotten 50% off most years or at least some kind of discount. 10 days ago I called and was told the best they could do was six $65 payments over 6 months. I tried and tried to wheel and deal and she wouldn't budge. I didn't order Sunday Ticket opting instead to see if the game would be on in Los Angeles.

Since L.A. now has the Rams and Chargers the Packers aren't on locally anymore here in L.A. Sundays game wasn't on so I called Direct TV for a different voice and hopefully different result.

I was able to get Sunday Ticket FOR FREE this season AND 12 months of FREE HBO & I was able to keep all my previous discounts.

Give it a try.

Does the NFL mete out punishments for the refs that perform badly? There should be a system of postgame evaluation of the refs that don't do their jobs properly.

If Adams is able to hang on to that pass in the endzone, the game is over. Here we often want Mike to be bold and go for it. He went for the win there, and it just barely didn't work out. Honestly, I think I’m more pissed off about the Matthews roughing penalty than I was about the Fail Mary. The fail Mary was just some poor Div. It’s no longer a joke. It really is two-hand touch.

The thing is CM3 broke no NFL rule(s) on the roughing call. Just total overreacting by a boot-licking ref probably overwhelmed with trying to make sure the new rules are enforced.

Horrible judgement call on a play that need no adjudication.

Lmao, when you sack him and pick him off and the refs give it back to them what do you expect. Get a realistic perspective. How many fu***g plays do you expect the defense to make? The refs gave the queens 2 TD's while saving Cousins @$$ several more times giving him plenty opportunities to pad his stats. Kirk Cousins is a good QB when you force him to make a mistake it has to count, he's not gonna keep making them over and over just because the refs bail him out on his previous ones.

A deep bone bruise may take 6-8 weeks to totally heal. It’s really dependent on each individual’s treatment, physiology, and their tolerance to pain. Rodgers takes very good care of himself so I’m optimistic that he will heal towards the shorter end of the curve:)

MM didn't throw the flag on Matthews' legal hit on Cousins. MM didn't throw the flag on Lane Taylor, negating the Graham TD. MM had some iffy play calling, but when the refs are the problem, they should be called out. Bad officiating makes the game looked rigged.

Are you so clueless as to think the refs can't control a game? What is your reasoning on the refs having no effect? If the refs have no effect they're not needed actually. In case you didn't know it's a ref's job to control the game genius, that's what they're paid to do. They're just supposed to do it impartially without favoritism.

Another genius, placing the ball for snap, moving the chains, keeping players from fighting, and doing too much trash talking is not officiating, it's controlling the parameters of the game. They control the game and officiate each play in the process. Like I said they're paid to control the game. Btw, let me ask this question, How do you officiate something you have no control over? Think on that one wise guy and let's hear your brilliant response.

This time it was Samson. This one is so bad its one of those ones where the league will come out in the middle of next week and say yeah that one shouldn't have been called. Not that it does anything but make it worse, but it will probably happen this week cause this one is bad. An end of game play where he hit as the ball was thrown and didn't drive him to the turf. This one will be talked about by every sports show all week.

The Packers also gave up way too many chances and had to kick 5 field goals and Rodgers just fumbled the ball on the edge of field goal range in overtime. There is plenty to blame the team for, but when you go into its over celebration only to have a penalty flag fly in you just know its going to go bad from there.

If the plays worked we’d all be singing a different tune. I’m not trying to argue with anyone here- just saying. Football can be so simple, but yet so complicated at the same time. Does that make sense? With the new catch rule Adams near TD catch could’ve went either way. All teams go through their ups and downs. A good example is New Orleans the past two weeks.

I'm trying to figure out which was worse...

1) The call on Lane Taylor for Holding...
2) The roughing the Passer call on Matthews...
3) McCarthy's play calling after the INT by HHCD....

I'm leaning towards the penalties but then again McCarthy just showed the world once again he will NEVER win a game for the Packers because of his decision making or play calling which I'm having a harder time than normal getting over.

Both teams benefited by one of the WORST called games I've seen in the NFL in a long time. But McCarthy, Christ McCarthy just doesn't seem have a clue when to be aggressive and when to work the clock.

Sigh...I'm SO tired of Mike McCarthy. He's just too much for even Aaron Rodgers to overcome.

IDK.
1st/10 from MN 13, 2:05 left: run for no gain by Williams then 2-minute warning.
[On first down, GB lined up 8 on the LOS, looks like 3 TEs, 1 WR, 1 RB. MN has 7 in the box and an 8th four yards off the LOS. Hmmm. TV shows 2:05 on the clock. INC pass might not get to the 2-minute warning.]

2nd & 10; 2:00 left: GB has TE as an H-back, Graham standing upright next to Bulaga, and one WR flexed just a few yards away on each side of the formation. 1 RB. MN has 8 in the box, 10 less than 5 yards from the LOS, and all 10 are well within the numbers. Yeah, I don't think running into that makes sense. Instead AR does a designed roll out to the right and fires a pass to Davante in the end zone. Trying a pass gets an upvote from me.

3rd & 10; 1:54 left from the MN 13 yard line: GB is in 11 personnel, with Graham flexed out slightly. MN counters with 6 in the box. MN rushes 4 and drops 7. GB no play action fake, Williams chips and leaks over the middle. He is open but probably isn't going to get a first, absent a good move or two. AR looks only at Davante in ISO against Rhodes, INC. Good coverage, clean pocket. Yeah, that could have been a run or a check down to Williams to make MN burn one of its two remaining timeouts. Clock stops a 1:49 on the incompletion and GB kicks the gimme field goal. Kick off and then MN gets it back with 1:45 and two timeouts.

If GB runs three times, it goes something like this:
1st/10 2:05: Williams for no gain. 2 minute warning
2nd/10: Run then MN TO - down to maybe 1:52.
3rd/10 Run then MN TO - down to maybe 1:45.
If we don't gain a first, FG. KO. MN gets the ball with 1:35 or so left. No timeouts, but enough time.

Just run the play, run or pass, that you think gets GB a first down or points. I don't think 3 runs gets MM off the hook if we don't end up winning. The way things transpired, we did end up with the ball back with 47 seconds and got Crosby in range for a 52 yard FG to win outright. 80 degrees out so distance isn't as much of a deal, but it is still a long way away. Crosby had plenty of distance on both tries. I doubt MM wins no matter what he does if we don't end up winning.

That's what I was thinking we would do. Needed to score but burn up some clock doing so. Get the first down. We were in the driver's seat and then we weren't in the driver's seat.

Personally I'm sick of hearing people justify McCarthy going for it when he had didn't have to go for it at that point.
How many times have we had this discussion. Are there only two options on the table, three bad runs or a couple quick strikes that may or may not work. There's something in the middle we can choose one of these days.

TGR, you will find I didn't voice my opinion about what MM should have done at all.

I was simply agreeing with IdiotFan that historically, when McCarthy plays clock control ground game to protect a slim lead (plays the percentages), there is a loud, consistent outcry from a good deal of fans who claim he's giving the game away by not "putting his foot on the opponent's throat", he needs to go for it and stay aggressive in the pass game.

When he gives those fans what they want, they say he made bone-headed calls, everyone knows you keep it on the ground, run clock, and try to safely protect the lead.

Sorry again. I didn't mean your opinion, Oppy, or Idiot's either. I didn't want to write a comment disagreeing with anyone's opinion as a bare comment. I mean, if someone writes player x played well, and I reply no, that player played badly and nothing else, then we have no real progress.

So, on the first play, an INC pass might not have gotten us to the 2-minute warning. Second play with 10 in the box on defense dictated a pass. Third play with just 6 or 7 in the box could have been a run. Overall, I don't blame MM (which I've been known to do).

I'm numb. I'm sick and tired of having to overcome MM each week and now the refs. The only thing I can do is not waste my money paying the NFL money for a pass that blocks me out anyway. Like I want to rewatch this game later. Luckily my son found a free stream, that had better quality anyway.

I think they're noticeably better, even if they did allow MN to tie it up at the end. The coverage is much better in general. And that was a legit drive by the MN offense at the end. Cousins hit some really tight throws into good coverage (like the Thielen TD). This is not Dom's D where receivers are running wild with nobody by them and the DBs all point at each other after the play. And I think they're only going to get better as the season goes on (barring injuries). My biggest concern is the pass rush though.

40years of watching football. Just terrible refs! It just wasn't about the CMIII call. The pass interference non- calls, had me just stunned. No way was this game on the up and up. Clock Management was pathetic! The packers didn't let the vikings back in the game. The Refs did! Outrage should come from the whole NFL here!

For a while now whenever there's a good play everyone holds their breath to see if there's a flag. That's how awful this game has become. It's the flags that determine the game. The PI on Graham was a bad call but I can live with that much more so than Mathews tackle. He hit him a split second after he let go of the ball and there was no physical way to avoid hitting Cousins or fall on him. He never lifted him. He made the tackle we've all been taught to make, wrap up and drive. It may sound to the rest of the league fans like we're whining but the Packers should demand an explanation and should push it to the point of getting fined. It was theft.

Oh, and Mikey....when you get the ball inside of the opponents 20, run the ball and make them use time outs. Don't give it back with 2 minutes and 2 time outs. Not with this Dom-like pass defense.

Gut reactions:

The Packers proved that they could beat the Vikings even with Aaron Rodgers on one leg.
My worst fears were realized about the new tackling rules and the officiating. Matthews was guilty of roughing against the Bears but not this time against the Vikings. A terrible call that cost us a win. It only took 2 games for the officials to ruin a win for the Packers.

I thought the Packers played a great game until the 4th quarter and even then they win the game with decent officiating. I hate this era of the NFL but I love the Packers so I keep watching but it is getting tougher every week.

A good learning experience for the young DBs today. Alexander should have been the hero but the officials got in the way.

As for the play calls after the Dix interception the Packers were going for the win to create a 2 possession game. It didn't work out but I don't have a problem with it. The same posters who are complaining about the pass play calls in this game criticized MM for running the ball and using up the Seahawks timeouts in the 2014 NFCCG. Proving that play calls are viewed by the results of the play or the game. Win the game or score a TD and the play call is brilliant, fail to score or lose the game fire the coach, even though AR calls the plays.

Let's see how the refs screw up next week.

Agreed that the Mathews call was horrible and cost the Packers the game amid a decent defensive effort. However I can't really blame the refs as they were handed an almost impossible rule by the NFL Rules Committee. How do you distinguish between driving the QB into the ground with the full force of your body versus simply tackling him? This pile of garbage is a League created problem that the refs have to somehow enforce and it won't go away until the rule is changed to something resembling sanity.

This game was maddening to watch, but to take a Bill Parcells point of view, "we didn't do enough to win."

Or, like Bill Belichick: "Do your job."

Rodgers said it himself after the game, if you settle for 5 FGs against a team like the Vikings, it's tough to win.

Yes, the call on Clay Matthews was a travesty and an embarrassment.

Yes, Crosby choked.

But how many big plays and 3rd down conversions did we give up? There are bright spots to take away -- hell, we could've lost.

The bottom line is we'll get another shot at these bastards in a few months to make it right. And when that day comes, we MUST score TDs, not FGs. We need Jimmy Graham in situations like this to step up and be the red zone beast we signed him to be.

As disappointing as a tie is, the reality is that the Packers are still on charge of their destiny in this early season. If they’re still tied with Minnesota when the meet again, they can break that tie. Plus they were in a position to win with an injured Rodgers and would have won if Zimmer doesn’t make Crosby kick twice. This could have ended up much worse.

F is for football. Not for F***ing Refs. Let's take off their make-up here. The refs determined the game because the packers have the weakest schedule in the NFL. The NFL is a money machine. It needs TV revenue. So controlling it is their only objective. Not to you or me. Were Hooked! WE will watch them because we Love are team. Are players still go on and play for other teams now. When they make bad calls it hits us in the gut. This Tie stopped the heart break. The Brain Farts are only that. It was entertaining! The sky is still blue. It's not a government cover-up. The packers need to play for KEEPS. That didn't happen today.

Thats cause these people are fans of the Packers. Since you are not - you would not understand. You have no passion or interest in this team, you don't get excited when they pull out a great win like last week, and you don't get upset when they get what happened this week. Why you watch sports I have no idea at all. You obviously get no enjoyment or feeling from it at all, you only hope the Packers fail so you can come in and snipe. You will predictably come back and say it is just truth telling but you are way past that now and obviously just come in to crow and spout your narrative over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Before the game:
My comment:
"I sure hope I don't have to play Hank Williams Sr...."
Sorry, Taryn, I don't believe you. IMHO you'd LOVE to play the "I was right" card if Rodgers is injured in this game. The Packers doctors (notoriously conservative with player injuries) were willing to let him play in the second half last week and have cleared him to play. You don't sit your best, most important, player against a division foe to "save him" for lessor opponents. This is football and why the games are played. Rodgers is the game changer needed by the Packers for this game and everyone knows it, including him. I'm personally disgusted by all the chicken little's in the comments section today. Rodgers knows the risks and he wants to play. He's been cleared to play. That's good enough for me. When Rodgers plays this game we win. I believe that wholeheartedly. You can laugh at me for being a "homer" all you want but at least I'm not a "negative Nelly" like you. Here's my "homer" finishing comment line on this (gasp) Packers site:
GO, PACK, GO!!!!

Your comment:
It never ceases to amaze me how homers and Libtards twist the words and meaning, of what another says that they don't agree with.

There has been no mention of what the injury is or the extent of it. One could almost believe he wasn't really hurt and wanted an Academy Award.
My point was and is still, if Rodgers is hurt and benching for a week increases the chances for a more successful season..sit him. If he is hurt to a very small degree and the medical says he can play, great. But the decision should not be based on it being a division game in week 2 because even if a loss, there are still 14 games that can be won and the Vikings cannot match that since we play again.

After the game. My reply:

Libtards? Wow, that's so grown up. MY POINT was that he was cleared to play and therefore should be allowed to play. If you don't understand the importance of division games vs. other games I'm shocked. Nowhere in my comment did I say that the decision by the medical staff should be based on it being a division game; that is YOU twisting MY meaning. My point was that Rodgers was cleared to play and it was an important game and he knew it. It must kill you that he was the reason for the Packers not losing that game. Look in the mirror before you accuse someone of twisting someone else's meaning.

My comment right now:
I wouldn't feel especially bad if you "drowned in your tears", (Not really, even for someone as pervasively nasty as you are on this site), and I feel bad about that because I actually have empathy for people. I have a hard time believing you have empathy for anyone. I really wish you'd prove me wrong, even just once. Just what makes you feel you can call yourself a Packers fan? I sure don't see it.

Remember, McCarthy's offseason consisted of scapegoating both coordinators to keep his job, then being elevated to equal footing with his GM, to whom he no longer reports. So he actually gained power for his...ummm... performance.

Sweet gig, if you can swing it.

And now, we've added even more talent to a defense that covers absolutely no one, while tackling worse than a co-ed flag football team.

I also said:

1. If Rodgers played, he would play well.

2. It would be unlikely he would sustain further injury.

3. That it still wasn't worth it to me, because he is the franchise and it's one game. I was fully prepared to sacrifice one game so that our franchise could heal up an extra week before dodging blitzers.

Thus, there is absolutely nothing wrong with my comments whatsoever. Rodgers performed as I expected, he wasn't further injured--just as I expected--but I simply didn't want the risk.

Thanks for reminding me of my own accuracy, Spock. I've never claimed to be "da man," but I have no regrets whatsoever regarding my comments on Rodgers playing.

I can't help but notice, however, that you completely avoided my description of McCarthy's offseason. I can only assume it's because my statements were perfectly accurate, and you therefore had no direct response--hence your misdirection to an unrelated point.

You know, maybe you should change your name from "Spock." Doesn't suit you.

The hit on Cousins when he threw the TD to Theiland looked way worse than the CM hit. He got hit low when he threw it but then the secondary blew it. Brice if he looked for the ball could have knocked it down or caught it. 3 missed FG's by the queens, love it, karma. I hate MN. Pettine has some work to do. Each person has his own 'blame sheet'.

Don't like the holes in the team, blame TT/Gute.
Don't like McCarthy's time management, blame McCarthy. Don't like his playcalliing, same as above.
Don't like how the Packers offense failed to put the game away late, blame the entire offense.
Don't like the refs, blame the refs.
Don't like the receivers, blame them, or the O line, or Clay Matthews, or Kyler Fackrell, or Davon House.
Don't like the Vikes, then they obviously cheated.

My own favourite is to blame the Lambeau curse.......................what ? You didn't know there was one ? Well it all started after this spaceship landed on Lambeau field in the offseason, and they thought a wandering dog was failing to give them respect, when it peed on one of their landing struts.

This game was a bit of everything, blame could go in many directions, but let us not lose sight of the fact, the FACT, that this game was not a loss, it was a draw, where two very talented teams punched each other to an exhausted standstill.

Turophile, Thank you for pointing out that this was NOT a loss despite all the "gut reactions" in the comment section. Of course, I haven't actually SEEN the game so maybe I'll be one of those Mad Hatters when I do, lol.

On Cheeseheadtv.com, Mike McCarthy is to blame for every Packer loss and has no credit for any win - they are all due to Rodgers. Thats how it works for him here. Over 130 times they have won in spite of McCarthy being there, pretty amazing when you think about it.

I liked going for the win and not to just run two no gain runs and kick the field goal like they normally do.

I just heard the officials explanation of the CM3 penalty.

Supposedly he ruled he lifted Cousins up and then slammed him down.

One of the worst calls in memory steals a victory.

Another pet-peeve was the Lane Taylor call. You dominate your opponent he falls down and they call a hold. The D-guy is actually rewarded for sucking.

It's impossible to take this #hit seriously. Officiating can and does determine who wins or loses regardless of what some might say. The dick who called the penalty on CM3 should be ashamed.

The League's response to that official should be to calmly suspend him for 4 weeks.

He flat-out invented a penalty to rescue a team. There's no other way to look at it.

It doesn't matter anymore what is right or wrong in the NFL, it only matters who the NFL wants to win.

Refs seem to always miss that one nowadays. When the offensive lineman pancakes the guy down and all the refs see is the guy fall so he must have been pulled and throw a flag.

My concern is they didn't call the same thing for Rodgers. He's on the ground and they piled on.

The Lane Taylor penalty for holding was pure nonsense! Jimmy Graham's 1st Packer TD Reception will have to wait for next week against the Skins!

Couple points I haven’t seen made yet:

1. JK Scott turned in a nice performance. Good to have a punter who can flip the field.

2. I’d like to see DC Pettine coach from the sidelines. Believe he’d bring some intensity and player motivation. I think he’s in the booth not by choice but by MM preference...

Not true. Petine made the choice to be in the box as he prefers it. It’s more of a calm environment to call the game and you have a better vantage point. He addressed this in one of his pressers earlier in the season.

This has nothing to do with the outcome of the game, but I was surprised at how many times I watched Vikings' offensive linemen literally turning packers D-lineman around and still cuffing them with no holding calls.

Less than 24 hours ago, a good number of people were predicting that the Vikings were clearly the more talented team and too much for the Packers to overcome.

Less than 24 hours ago a good number of people were predicting the Packers lose by 10 or more in regulation.

Today, the Packers went to OT (in a game that rightfully should have ended by a INT in regulation) and came out with a tie, not a loss, but a tie, and people are out of their goddamn minds.

We all wanted that "W" that we should have had. A tie in a game most of you picked as a loss isn't the worst thing in the world. Packers fans are the worst.

The Packers came out with a tie, not a WIN, but a tie.

"Packers fans are the worst" Spend alot of time on forums or in the comments on fan websites of any of the other 31 NFL teams do ya? Thats the only way you'd know for sure then.

The Packers tie was actually a loss, only it was a loss to the 2018 version of what we call NFL "football" today, not the Vikings.

Newsflash Oppy, fans complain no matter what color they wear - if you have a problem with that then dont go looking for a reason to bash fans in the first place. You knew what you were in for, and you arent any better of a fan than anyone else no matter what you think right now from where youre standing.

This game was an ABORTION of something resembling american football. And the Packers were involved in it. At home. Versus the team that ruined our season last year. Kudos to you for taking this tie better than everyone else. Theres the pat on the back you were looking for. If you wanna turn around and pat this team on the back for "not losing" thats fine too - but i guess i just prefer the "worst" fans that accept wins and nothing else.

If you're one of the people I was talking about who was predicting week two to finish out with the Vikings enjoying a game-and-a-half lead in the NFC north... and today, you're super pissed off that the Packers and the Vikings are tied for the NFC north... You're a moron. The End.

Point about a tie not being a loss is a good one, but the fact is, what I saw was a game taken away by officiating.

In the narrow context, that feels like a loss even though one point is better than none. In the general field of concern though, I see the current QB hit rule as being inherently subjective and to be changing games. This devalues the sport as a whole.

On top of that, what I saw was a procession of poor officiating—not just against us—but ultimately taking away more than single plays. The officials need to be held to a higher standard and the current QB hit rules need urgent attention.

Officiating of the standard seen today is bringing the game into disrepute in my view.

Nah im not actually, never said theyd lose or thought they would. So the whole moron theory is out the window. The comment I responded to by you seemed to have been made from your high horse. The actual worst types of Packers fans in reality are the ones that are just fine tying the team that took out our Quarterback last year.

I dont care that this was the 2nd game of the season, deny it all you want but this should have been a statement game. A revenge game. A game that for the time being, put distance between us and an overhyped purple team that has owned is recently. I expected a win, and all I know is we didnt get one.

The comment I made was directed at all the Packers fans that came back here to shout, bitch, piss, and whine about the Packers ending a game in a tie...in a game that just yesterday they were claiming the Packers had no chance of winning.

You want to call that my high horse, so be it. Those "fans" are absolute morons- saying they expect to lose, then complaining when something better happens. The entire point of my second post was not that you said/thought/claimed they would lose. It was letting you know if you WEREN'T one of those people, my post didn't apply to you.

Score TD’s instead of FG’s and where not having this conversation. D needs to play better but the O has to get in the endzone. They only got there once today that will not cut it. 1-0-1 is better than 0-2 and having Kizer lead this team, which is where I thought we would be a week ago at half time. The team has lots of room to improve and I think they will, got to get more pressure.

Also let’s just take 52 off during crunch time seems like he’s scrutinized heavily on those downs rightly or wrongly.

I don’t think it’s a surprise the we struggled in the red zone against the best defensive unit in the NFL! We also put up 29 points against them with a one legged QB! I thought the defense played very well against a hot QB for 3 quarters. They ran out of gas and had to swim upstream against horrible officiating in the 4th. We should have won but we didn’t lose. I’m ok with that for now. The officiating not withstanding, on to the next game. The Vikings will get their’s later this season.

NFL and the refereeing crews had better get their act together and find some damn consistency on roughing the passer I think the rule was to prevent QBs being blatantly being driven to the turf and being used as a landing pad by a frenzied defender!! The one on 52 did not reflect that intent !!!! Then the push down of AR in front of the referee and he waving it off seems sick!!

After the Ha Ha pick the time to pass was on 1st down. It was like a few seconds before the 2 minute warning and they ran and the clock stopped. Then 2 passes which took no time off of the clock and MN saved their time outs. After the 2 minute warning everything went wrong that could go wrong. Adams couldn't hold on,had it for a second. After that the CM bs call. The next play, ball pops up on a screen right to Wilkerson and he dropped it like it had Herpes. Wilkerson hasn't shown much in 2 games. But we're 1-0-1, could be 2-0 or could be 0-2 god forbid. AR has now played 6 quarters on a bad knee and came away as healthy as he could today.

I heard that as well. I guess Clay was expected to somehow defy the laws of physics and stop all forward momentum even while engaged with the QB. Horrible, and indefensible call that cost us a win.

Tough tie, but at least not saying, tough loss, regardless of the shenanigans in the 4th quarter. I'm concerned about King being so injury-prone, unable to finish a complete game so early in his career. Makes me wonder who did the homework on this player when in college at Washington? There's history there. We paid dearly for his absence after the groin injury today. Cousins went straight at House for a very quick TD. I hope King's injury isn't serious and he's back in next Sunday. Thank you.

I've said this for 20 years! HIRE FULL TIME REFS!!

What the NFL can't afford it? Cut Goodell's pay.

Does baseball keep shitty refs? No. They know if they keep making bad calls they will be fired. In the NFL, the refs know if they get fired they just go back to their regular 9-5 job. They do not care.

I'm not sure if it's as much "shitty refs" as it is confusing rules that require so much subjective interpretation by the "shitty refs". Maybe a combination of both?
