Fixing the Run Defense
By PackerAaron
Interesting little nugget here from new Safeties Coach Darren Perry regarding how the Steelers stopped the run back when Perry was playing:
When it came down to nut-crunching time and stopping the run, most of the time we were in a 4-3 look. So just because you have 3-4 personnel out there on the field doesn't mean you can't play a 4-3 front.
I think this is the sort of thing you'll see a lot of. It makes a ton of sense with the Packers' personnel and it makes it hard for offensive coordinators to take advantage of personnel packages. If Kampman and say, Jeremy Thompson are both converted to OLB, there's nothing stopping them from putting their hand on the ground from a DE spot in a 4-3 front. But the offense won't be sure which front they'll see until they lineup. Unlike Sanders' defense where you knew 95 percent of the time where everybody would be before you even broke the huddle.

It'll be nice making other teams prepare for some different looks rather than our usual 4-3 press man coverage

Two words that will guarentee a better 2009 -- "Flexibility and Unpredictability".

You think the Lions will trade our first plus Brohm for their first? We could tell them about all the records he has broke in College! LOL

Nut-Crunching in a sentence automatically makes you my new favorite member of the organization.
Bailiwick, you are dead to me.
