It took seven seasons, but Jordy Nelson finally made his first Pro Bowl.

Nelson was one of five Green Bay Packers players named to the Pro Bowl Tuesday evening by the NFL along with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, linebacker Clay Matthews, fullback John Kuhn and guard Josh Sitton.

The Pro Bowl will take place Sunday January 25, exactly one week before the Super Bowl from the site of the Super Bowl at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona. If the Packers qualify for the Super Bowl, they will not play in the Pro Bowl.

Nelson is in the midst of a career year with the Packers, currently ranking second in the NFL with 13 receiving touchdowns, fourth with 1,433 receiving yards and seventh with 92 receptions with one game to go.

Aaron Rodgers was named to his fourth Pro Bowl, but there's no guarantee he'll be on the same team as Nelson. Pro Bowl rosters are no longer broken up by AFC and NFC.

Pro Football Hall of Famers Cris Carter and Michael Irvin will serve as alumni team captains and will have the final say in a draft, divvying up players between the two teams.

Rogers was the leading vote-getter among fans and is having an MVP type of season, leading the league with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 36-to-5 and a passer rating of 111.0 that ranks second.

Matthews was named to the fifth Pro Bowl of his six-year career, passing Bill Forester for the most selections by a linebacker in team history. He currently has 10 sacks, the fourth season of his career with double-digit sacks, tying Reggie White and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila for No. 1 in franchise history.

Kuhn is going to his second Pro Bowl and was the leading overall vote-getter among fans at the fullback position.

Sitton was also named to his second Pro Bowl but his first as an original selection. He went as an injury replacement in 2012.

Seven players were named to the Pro Bowl as alternates, including tackle David Bakhtiari, wide receiver Randall Cobb, running back Eddie Lacy, guard T.J. Lang, linebacker Julius Peppers, and cornerbacks Sam Shields and Tramon Williams.
