Just another good sign that Gutey is on the ball and trying to do what is necessary to get to that Super Bowl! He has been very active in free agency always searching AND remember not every pro athlete free agent wants to live and work in Green Bay WI!

A good signing. No downside and nothing but upside. Go Pack! I hope he can play some snaps this week

I’ll get excited if and when he makes some good plays for us. Let’s remember Seahawks stopped playing him for a reason. He only had one impact play and a few tackles during his time there. Compared to what he used to do his results is way down.

Never know. Remember that guy the Packers picked up a number of years ago who was so washed up that nobody would sign, and eventually he took the offer from GB because nobody else would give him an offer? Charles somebody?

Woodson was healthy. Snacks has been less than healthy for some time. He was the 4th DT (not DL) on the Seattle depth chart and was apparently released because they believed he was done playing. He had also turned down at least two prior opportunities to sign here this season. Just seems odd.

I’m not opposed to extra experience, but I think Rush and Price were adequate for the role. This doesn’t feel right to me. Hope I’m wrong. I hope we keep Rush not swap him out for Snacks. He has some upside. I though Price played well in the last game too.

I believe they received a roster exemption for him, so Price and Rush are not going anywhere. There has been a good amount of player shuffling on the D and I need to have a roster sheet with me.

Oppy,
Were you talking about Howard (Big Howie) Greene?
Green deflected the pass that Nick Collins returned for the touchdown in the playoffs that year and was able to make B J Raji more effective in the playoffs. If Snacks can give us just 1 or 2 good plays per game it could be a big help.

I was talking about Charles Woodson, but Howard Greene is a very good direct comparison to what Snacks may bring.

There is good reason for doubt Murf, but Rush has not played one single down in a game for the Packers. Could Harrison really be less useful? I think this is a low risk pickup assuming Harrison bumps Rush from the 53.

Gute has wanted this guy for awhile and his judgement on defensive free agents has been pretty good so far. Let's give Harrison a chance.

Until last week, Pettine had little to no use for a 3rd DT. Rush was ill by kick off. Price got all 9 snaps and did well. Not sure that any of this really points to Snacks 2020 being an upgrade .

He may not be an upgrade, but how could he possibly be a downgrade from Rush? Rush has not played one single snap for the Packers. The other issue is maybe, just maybe, Pettine learned something about the value of a conventional 3-4 defense last week and we might see more D-linemen on the field going forward.

Only time will tell, but I see this as a very low risk signing. That and Gute has been after this guy for awhile and I trust Gute's judgement on free agents.

For the role he'll play, I suspect Harrison is better than Rush, Price, and Lancaster. 10-15 snaps per game. I think he makes the roster better. Add to the fact that Keke is DNP so far this week with a concussion, and he might be the cavalry.

I complained about no DL moves in the offseason. Snacks could be a good pick-up for the DL. Our D just had their best defensive game all year. Many players are performing better than they have all year and everyone is UP. I'm sure Snacks has just lucked into a perfect situation and hopefully he returns the favor on his end. He was an all pro at one time, hope he has something left in his playoff tank. GPG

Let him practice and put him in against the Bears - cant be any worse that what we have. We cannot judge our good performance against Tennessee and figure that we have it figured out the same as we cant judge our bad performance against Carolina or against the Jags etc and say that we are horrible. The Titans game aligned in our favor - cold wet snowy and we are up for it and they couldnt get their run game going. Snacks might help spell off in the middle and jam things up when he is in there. Better than not doing nothin but not sure that he is really motivated now in GB as he was in a really good spot with the SHawks if playing for a Superbowl ring was his big goal.

No longer correct. NFL changed the rules on December 20th. If the acquired player comes from another team's 53 or PS (so not a street free agent) such that he was subject to testing, the six day waiting period no longer applies. See link, which I wish was a little more expansive and/or had more clarity.

I don't really watch the She-hawks. I know our Defense has not hit on all cylinders all year but we have a lot of good players playing their best ball right now. They are a close bunch and celebrate their Dtrain plays together. Now seriously, who would not want to be a part of that. I think he melts right in and helps out and loves our guys right off.

I don't know? Seattle said he didn't want to play any more and he ask to be released? He told them he was done. Guess we'll see Sunday.

Just think, if we’d have had him last week we could have held Henry under 100 yards.

From everything I've read is that we did hold him under100 yards.
97 yards, if I recall correctly.
At any rate, the Packers did a helluva job containing him.

Yeah, I was being a bit snarky/sarcastic. Even though I fully support bringing in Snacks and think he could really help. Can’t wait to see this D now all the way to the socially distant trophy presentation in Tampa.

Hermaite, that was a great post and made me laugh. I assume you understood the irony and came back with this one. Very funny!

This feels strange but it seems he will report even though he said "I'm not doing the waiver thing." I doubt he becomes a distraction but that would be my only concern. He asked to be released after being inactive against the Rams.

Anything that frees up Kenny Clark I am for though. Gutey is all in.

I thought he didn’t want to play in GB. Did he change his mind or is all this just wishful thinking?

This is a very low risk, high reward situation. Gute has little if anything to lose. If this guy sniffs a "ring", I think the Packers may get something out of him. Let's hope so.

Harrison said on a Seattle thread that he understood that there were younger guys ahead of him and that he agreed they should be getting the snaps, I don't believe he said he was done playing football , he seems enthusiastic about coming to the Packers now , so lets see how it plays out.

If the "Snacks" pick up works out 1/3 as good as Howard Greene did back in 2010 this could be the bargain of the year.
If not, he earns 1/17th of his salary from GB and he's gone! Not much risk for the possible rewards another veteran (and run-stopper) might add to the D-Line.
