He’s an undersized OLB coming off of a knee injury. I see no reason to do so. There are certainly other OLB players available after cut downs if the Packers feel the need IMO.

Holecrap, Gute is in the process of resending this roster. We just brought in a new offensive scheme. It will take one more year before we get good depth.

Anyone think we have a chance of sneaking Lazard on to the practice squad? Im sort of surprised he didn't make the cut....

Yup. Most teams have wrs they want to sneak on the ps at this point. A team would have to be really hard up to take lazard and put him on their 53. If they do, that's fine, but I don't it. He's solid with nice size but needs time.

Wilmet, I’m thinking he is one of 4 that I would like for them to bring back. I doubt any of them clear but I remain hopeful.

Really happy we kept Williams. That kid is great later in the game....has the ability to take a game over. Great accompanying piece to our running back group.

Most had EQ as a bubble player. He does have talent. I really like him. But It's idealism vs. business at this point. I feel the Packers will cut him now. I said he was done as a Packer and he would get an injury settlement. 11 plus dislikes; because people can't deal with the reality of the EQ. I don't believe we have the 6 best Wrs for A-Rod. The UDFAs making this club are hurting the future. My observation is that they are not going against the #1s / CBs.//// That they made this club for now. ( Flashing in the Pan!) The packers are losing out on the future of the position. Sure their running good routes. But the hands and separation, are what makes a great Wr unit. I believe the constant change in WRs is the wrong direction. That it's a hot hands approach; It will hurt how we draft, and effect the cap numbers in the long term. I looked for game changers. Not Duds! TheFan favorite ; Bang for the Buck, is not a long term solution. Great QBs can make a WR look better then he is, as long as he can catch. Which now must happen!

Well, you were wrong. EQ was IRd instead of getting waived. I guess those downvotes were justified.

How can you say I was wrong if it hasn't happened yet! I said he would be Cut, and get an injury settlement. Forget next year! So it was a forecast. An Assumption on my part. Go back to Acme!

stockholder: “I don't believe we have the 6 best Wrs for A-Rod. The UDFAs making this club are hurting the future. My observation is that they are not going against the #1s / CBs. … The packers are losing out on the future of the position. Sure their running good routes. That it's a hot hands approach; It will hurt how we draft, and effect the cap numbers in the long term.”

Allison was signed as a UDFA in 2016. Kumerow entered the league as an UDFA in 2013. Once a player has played in NFL games, how is his status as entering the league as an UDFA important? I would argue it is not. What’s the difference between a late-round draft pick and an UDFA? Again, not much IMO. Darius Shepherd is the obvious exception. Not only has he not appeared in an NFL game since this is his rookie season, he wasn’t even immediately signed as an UDFA after this year’s draft. He earned his way onto the roster beginning with his tryout at the Packers’ rookie minicamp. Considering your statements about UDFA, perhaps you think the Packers shouldn’t waste their time doing that minicamp.

I think your singling out UDFAs is without merit. But the real problem with your post is “The UDFAs making this club are hurting the future”. That’s just nonsense and makes me wonder why you include it in your post. The salary and cap figures that follow are from the overthecap site: Allison’s cap number is about $2.456M. That represents less than 1.5% of the cap (one report had his compensation at $2.8M, still a miniscule cap number). He signed a one-year deal so if he’s released after this season, his cap hit is zero next season. Kumerow’s cap number is $570K, less than 1% of this year’s cap. He signed a one-year deal so if he’s released after this season, his cap hit is zero next season. Shepherd’s cap number is $495K – the lowest number on the team. He’s due to make $585K next season and can be waived after this season with no cap consequences whatever.

So your comment about UDFAs hurting the future is precisely and demonstrably wrong: All three can be waived with no consequences on the cap whatever. If Gutekunst decides to extend any of the three, the only reasonable problem we as fans should have is cost/benefit of such an extension and not their status as entering the league as UDFAs.

I don't feel their a waste of time. You are correct that they did earn their way on. The problem is they have a short life on the team. The NFL draft was set up to give an advantage to the team, with the lesser record. The same with the waiver wire etc. And thats what your not seeing. Sure there are No guarantees. " The UDFAs are not an advantage. " The over-all talent on the team suffers. Allison didn't get Adams Contract. He's here because no one is better. (UNDFAs Etc.) Who is the #2 WR? You can't say anyone after Adams is a #2. They will only be players that earn their way on a team. The mismatches start with the draft. The Wrs must be the weapons of an offense. James Lofton, Sterling Sharpe, Nelson, even Driver. got it. Not players who earned their way on. Their not a Home-run threat. Their over achievers. Something any defense can defend against!

stockholder, I missed the part of your post where you justify your comment that the UDFAs will, "... hurt how we draft, and effect the cap numbers in the long term". You can't even admit the comment on cap numbers was BS?

If they play well enough that the Packers choose not to draft WR in the future, I don't see how they hurt the drafting strategy of the team. If they got the players they want, they got the players and can now use that draft pick to find an OT or a DL or an ILB.

If you see a $20 on the street, you pick it up. You don't leave it just because it won't be in your wallet in two years or because you were expecting to spend a $20 that's already in your wallet.

Ok Let me help you with that. The revolving door didn't work with TT after 2010. The cap numbers will go up, when the draft picks/ UDFAs fail. Why ? Because you have spend more to get the players you need. Didn't Gute run into that and cut Daniels? The caps in professional sports were to stop a owner from buying a trophy. TT was about fiscal responsibility. Making the wrong choices, sticks the team with lesser talent. And becomes problematic. How many Tes have we seen since Finley? How much money was spent?

stockholder, you didn’t write draft picks and UDFAs will effect how we draft and effect the cap numbers in the long term. You wrote UDFAs do. The exact opposite is true but you aren’t honest enough to admit it. Instead you seem to exaggerate to make negative points.

I know. Totally overlooked that. Guessing IR who will be able to return in 8 weeks. They must like him that much. Smart depth move if they do, as those big trench dudes both sides of ball that you like & fit system can be hard to find.
