Why the hell did the newest CBA make it so the new coach of a team can't talk Xs and Os to his new players during their extra preseason get together. It's like they're deliberately limiting their opportunities to hone their craft.

I see there’s no comments section on the Cody Ford piece, so here goes:

Ford misses all of the Packers thresholds for offensive linemen.

1.81 10 yard (GB threshold 1.80)
4.87 shuttle (GB threshold 4.75)
A whopping 8.37 3-cone (GB threshold 7.70)

GB has made exceptions before (Cole Madison), but Ford is going in the top 50 picks. I don’t think we’re making an exception there. I’ll bet he’s not even on GB’s board at all.

When you’re writing about a prospect and you say “he doesn’t really fit what GB wants to do in LaFleur’s offense” then you can stop right there. He’s not on GB’s radar and he’s not their #2 OL prospect.

Jaire Alexander didn't make the CB height threshold and they showed zero interest in him during the draft process. They ended up using a 1st round pick on him.

I tend to agree with you on Ford, but you never know.

Accepting a small variance on a height threshold is not the same as accepting a larger variance on an athletic factor, IMHO. We shall see - if they select Ford, it will mean Gutey doesn't give the same weight to these thresholds as Teddy did. Based on last year's draft, I'd say he puts a very high weight on athleticism.

To me, Jawaan Taylor is the only OL the GBP has in consideration at 12. And he will likely be gone by then just because the need for quality OT is so great.

MLF's new toy will be TE Hock. If he's off the board at 12, he gives Pettine his wish and takes Oliver. If both off the board, you have got to see what has fallen through. Absent a major surprise as to who is available, my next guesses would be OLB Montez Sweat or DT Wilkins or a trade down.

Yes, I've noticed it. There is no option to comment. It would be great if we can post our opinion because posting irrelevant comments on other posts will affect the flow of joy for other readers. Is there any reason for not providing the comments option for the only post? And, I agree with you that we have to be careful while writing about a prospect.

Flow of joy? That's a new one.
No idea why the comments aren't open. I'm sure Al has his reasons.
