Eddie Lacy Wins AP Offensive Rookie of the Year

Eddie Lacy Wins AP Offensive Rookie of the Year

I'm here at Radio City Music Hall and I just watched Eddie Lacy win the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

He thanked his offensive line and his teammates, making mention of the fact that the team rallied around him after Aaron Rodgers went down. Lacy said the team knew opponents would key on him and they made it their mentality that they would run the ball regardless of the extra attention.

they got it right this year!

jeremy's picture

Tough guy, good football player. He deserves this award. The Packers need more like him.

Any guesses on his collar size? 18"+?

Stroh's picture

Worst kept secret in the NFL. But appreciate the fact they at least got it right! Lacy should have won it in a landslide. No rookie had a larger impact on his team than Lacy did!

Just as I predicted before the season started. Soon as the Packers drafted Lacy I said he would be the favorite to win the OROY!

Arlo's picture

Good call Stroh !!
Pure genius !!
You're da man, Stroh !!

Stroh's picture

Thanks! And don't forget it.

steven's picture

Stroh if you recall i called it too. Lol. Ted thompsons kinda smart huh?

Stroh's picture

Congrats to you... Wasn't a difficult choice, but Lacy running as well as he did even w/o Rodgers cemented it IMO.

4thand1's picture

I remember bitching while watching the draft, I wanted The Pack to take him with their 1st pick.

Stroh's picture

Bet you were overjoyed they got him in the 2nd then?! LOL

The TKstinator's picture

Well done, Strohman.

And the fact that Bernard, Bell, and Ball were all taken in front of him at RB means that Cin's, Pitt's, and Den's GM's are all IDIOTS, right, everybody?

Oh, and remember, Christine Michael of Sea is "the better back", right, He Who Goes Moo?

cLowNEY42's picture

just wait.

The TKstinator's picture

Just like it's IMPOSSIBLE to get an impact player in round 5, right?

cLowNEY42's picture

for the Packers - yes.

4thand1's picture

Guess the 5th just ain't their round. Tramon, Sammy, Boykin,

The TKstinator's picture

See, now there's the blind pessimism that pisses people off. I have no problem with being tough or critical, but this is over the line.
I can't abide blindness whether it be on either side of the aisle. No objectivity, no credibility.

Arlo's picture

Sorry, TKstinator, but blind optimism is just as revolting. Read the posts since GB's season ended. Most of them are attempting to explain away an 8-8-1 season. You can't do it without pathetic excuses or rewriting history.

The off-season leading to season 2014 is critical. If the status quo is maintained by both TT and MM, season 2014 will be a continuation of 2013. We have an 8-8 team at the moment. The Pack is no longer an elite team. That's reality.

Phatgzus's picture

Agreed, TK.

The TKstinator's picture

Yes, that's what I meant by "blindness on EITHER side of the aisle" be it optimism or pessimism.

I don't put much stock in either one. No credibility.

John's picture

arlo you are an idiot. A few decent draft pics and a reasonably healthy year and yes we're elite.

Damn near beat the 9ers who almost beat Seatle hmm

Ted Thompson's picture

Alro stop posting. You can go troll elsewhere. Lets make a bet ten wins or more next season and you never post again under that account or any other account. A healthy Rodgers and we have 12 wins. Only a Viking fan or a moron ( is there a difference) would think otherwise.

RunAndHyde's picture

Proud day for packer fans!

Hank Scorpio's picture

Lacy was the obvious choice, IMO.

4thand1's picture

Now hit a home run on a ILB or Safety and the sky is the limit.

The TKstinator's picture

(I don't that is a current slang expression, I'm channeling my inner Michael Scott.)

Get a couple impact defensive players, and it's gonna be "zoppity"!
(See eariier parenthetical comment).

Phatgzus's picture

Zip. Zop. Zoooey.

FITZCORE1252's picture

Rightfully so...

CtSharpeCheddar's picture

I met him today and got an autograph at Grand Central station .Go Pack Go

cLowNEY42's picture

His jacket looks like Bear Bryant's hat.

taco's picture

It's Houndstooth. Respectful homage to his 'bama roots. Maybe in his induction at Canton he can wear a foam wedge of cheese....damn wish we had something better than that.

Lacy is the RB I wish we always had. And now we do. I love this guy.

Stroh's picture

Love me some Lacy, but Ahman Green is THE Man. He nearly as much power and could outrun anyone in the open field. Ahman had power, speed, great hands and could block as well as almost any RB.

Ahman will always be my favorite Packer RB.

Sven's picture

I loved watching Ahman, but Lacy has a way of running that is both elegant and terrifying. He is the my favorite Packers RB, that I watched. It would be awesome if he had the burners of Green or Grant, who also was great, in his time.

Alright Lacy!!! You earned it!!!

John's picture

duh this is Lacey's first year. give him some time to compare to Ahman

Stroh's picture

I understand Lacy is a rookie, but he doesn't have the speed to take it the distance that Ahman had nor is he as good a receiver. I like Lacy a lot I REALLY do, I always said he was the best RB in the draft for the Packers to pair w/ Rodgers. But Ahman was a Great RB and is the Packers Leading All Time Rusher. Lacy's career probably won't last nearly long enough to approach Ahman.

steven's picture

The sky is the limit for this offense next year, its gonna be scary

cLowNEY42's picture

But then there's that damn defense...

4thand1's picture

The D will be top 10, book it.

4thand1's picture

Perry will have 10+ sacks, CMIII will have 18-20, Mosley will be DROY.

The TKstinator's picture

Are you saying, then, that Mosley goes to GB?

4thand1's picture

cLowNEY42's picture

"The D will be top 10"
"Perry will have 10+ sacks"
"CMIII will have 18-20"

I don't even know how to respond to this nonsense.

It's taken me a while but now I fully understand why I'm so hated on this site.

I see things the way they are... perspective.
Most of the rest of the people who comment on this blog are just 100% Packer homers.

I guess I'd rather be like you guys (more fun to think you're team is AMAZING even though all evidence points to the contrary).

Have fun with your "contender".

I'm going to follow the actual Packers.

4thand1's picture

Last year they finished 11th. You said 6-10 for a record this year. 8-7-1 without aR for half a season. Talk about nonsense, you suck. 54-0

4thand1's picture

You also said Lacy was a wasted pick. You have 0 credibility. ZERO, I'll say it again, ZERO.

cLowNEY42's picture

I liked the Lacy pick.
Franklin was the wasted pick (which I was right on).

I made my record prediction based on the team's overall talent level. I didn't realize their schedule would be as pathetic as it ended up being.

The team still have 6-8 win talent, though... I don't think I was wrong on that assessment.

cLowNEY42's picture

By the way...

If even ONE of these things happen...
“The D will be top 10?
“Perry will have 10+ sacks”
“CMIII will have 18-20?

I would be straight up floored.
To predict all 3 is lunacy.

D = 20ish
Perry = 4
CMIII = 7 (I kinda think he's been figured out. Afraid we've seen his peak)

Phatgzus's picture

20 sacks from one of the most prolific D's in that metric over the past half decade?! HA! C-money you've outdone yourself this time!

larry valdes's picture

Congratulacion e lazy you deserved it good luck and next year i wil see you in the super bowl mvp.will be you or rodgers,

chris k's picture

Hahahaha, Ahman Green had great hands!!!???

Stroh's picture

6 out of 7 years in his 1st stint in GB over 40 rec. 378 total rec in his stellar career! Seems to me he was a very good receiver! I guess your complaining that he fumbled, which he did, but having excellent hands is VERY different that fumbling!

However the fact he fumbled a little too much was far outweighed by the production he provided! From '00 to '05 he had the most rushing yards in the NFL. One of only 2 RB's w/ 2 90 yd TD runs. Probably the best RB in NFL history never to lead the league in rushing (his 1883 yds in '03 bested by Jamal Lewis over 2000 yds). Might be in the NFL HOF if his 2 years in Seattle weren't wasted behind Ricky Watters.

Ahman Green was an outstanding Power RB, Breakaway Speed, excellent hand, very good blocker, great short yardage RB. He had it all! And yes he fumbled too much, but that doesn't diminish how Great a RB he was.

The TKstinator's picture

Agreed. Amazing blend of speed and power (not named Bo Jackson).

Do you think Lacy has MORE power than Green did? Man, that's a tough call. Could be.

I think Lacy, although a good bit bigger than Green, actually has more "wiggle", and not just the spin move only!

Stroh's picture

I would give Lacy the slight edge in power. Ahman didn't have anything like the spin move Lacy has, but he had a little wiggle of his own. He had a way of making people miss.

Norman's picture

Stroh, I thought Torkelson was the GOAT? LOL!

4thand1's picture

LOL Eric

casual fan's picture

The real nice thing about Lacy is that he rarely fumbles! With Rodgers also taking care of the football our offense has that much more of an advantage.

fish and crane's picture

Rarely? He fumbled game one stickin the ball out..he didn't drop the rock again the rest of the year

CtSharpeCheddar's picture

Lot of Pack fans in the NYC this week.I was reppin hard received much luv

4thand1's picture

Enjoy the SB, I'll be on a plane to Florida in 6 hours. Gonna miss the game. Next year we'll be watching the Pack on SB Sunday.

cLowNEY42's picture

Good one.

cLowNEY42's picture

Or maybe you meant that we'd see Rodgers win another nice - guy award... whoopidy-doo.

Ted Thompson's picture

You're not a Packer fan that is clear. So here it is. Pack win ten plus game next year or I am gone if they do, you have to troll eleswhere or under a different account.

John's picture

Clowney you are an idiot

The TKstinator's picture

Wasn't it Longshanks that said Lacy reminded him of Eric Torkelson, since they are both "hard runners"? So, where would Eric rank in power between Ahman, Eddie , and himself?

The TKstinator
(Showing a little moxie here)

zeke's picture

Somewhere between Harlan Huckleby and Barty Smith.

RC Packer Fan's picture

Great to see Lacy win the award. Well deserved.

I really wish we could have seen what he would have done with a healthy Rodgers all year.

I am looking forward to next year to seeing these guys working together.

Big Moe's picture

Congrats Eddie, well earned.

Jameson's picture

I'm glad he won! He deserved it. I got to give props to TT on this pick. I realize teams were reluctant to take a chance on him, but thankfully he fell to us!
