Donald Driver Discusses Recent Comments About Aaron Rodgers

Former Packers wide receiver Donald Driver appeared on 620 AM WTMJ's "Wisconsin's Afternoon News" on Tuesday and was asked about recent comments he made about quarterback Aaron Rodgers last week.

Driver didn't exactly clarify his comments but rather put the onus on the media, saying, "So many people take things out of context. I never said anything about Aaron. They asked me to give my opinion of what I thought Greg Jennings meant what he said about all those things about Aaron."

In an interview on ESPN Radio's "Mike and Mike," last Thursday Driver had said, “We’ve always said that the quarterback is the one that needs to take the pressure off everyone else. If a guy runs the wrong route, it’s easy for the quarterback to say, ‘Hey, I told him to run that route’ than for the guy to be like, ‘Well, I ran the wrong route.’ Sometimes you ask Aaron to take the pressure off the guys so we won’t look bad, but he didn’t want to do that. He felt like if you did something bad, you do it. But I think that’s the difference. You want that leadership, and I think sometimes you may not feel like you got it. You have to earn that respect at the end of the day, and I think that’s what Greg was probably referring to.”

Why would Aaron take the blame for one of his receivers running the wrong route ? Be a professional, run what is called and be accountable.

I have always heard Rodgers say that physical mistakes are part of the game but MENTAL mistakes are a different matter. He prides himself on his study and preparation and expects the same from his teammates. What's wrong with that? This is PROFESSIONAL football, played at the highest level by the best athletes on the planet.

OK, I admit that last comment was a childish attempt to provoke.

I lost all respect for Donald Drivre after those assinine comments. He sounds like a low information voter if you ask me. Yeah, Driver, you run the wrong route and you expect Aaron Rodgers to cover your ass. Did Favre ever cover anyone's ass when he threw the most interceptions in NFL history. All I ever heard from people was, THE RECEIVER RAN THE WRONG ROUTE!! when everyone knew it was Favre. Unbelievable comments. Favre never once took responsibility for his boneheaded mistakes yet Driver expects Rodgers too for his receivers effin up? What?

"shut up" ... "your time has passed"

C'mon dudes, we're talking about our brother Donald Driver. Even if you disagree with the guy, let's not eat our own. We're family around here. This isn't Minnesota.

Perhaps Driver should heed the words of the late, great Will Rogers--"When you're in a hole, stop digging."

Maybe Rodgers should take credit for all the receiver's drops too...

I don't think any less of Driver for saying what he said. He was asked a question and he answered it honestly, I can appreciate that. I don't agree with what he said but I won't hate him for it, Greg either.

Rodgers is a QB and criticism comes with the territory.

Just curious. Did you feel the same about Finley answering questions honestly? Criticism does go w/ the territory at QB, but it shouldn't when its completely unwarranted, and by a guy that help make you a very productive player!
