Cut Through The Noise

Lots of noise the last couple of days. Nick Barnett is on Twitter and says the Packers need another D-lineman. An athlete? On Twitter? Never! And another d-linemen is needed? Um, it happens to be the truth.

What's the other big news of the week? Oh that's right, Dave Redding says the boys are lifting and responding. Scintilating. Look, I know it's important, but it just doesn't get the ol' blood flowing, you know?

But cutting through all this noise, for me at least, is this piece from Mike Vandermause on Lee Remmel. I've had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Remmel on more than one occasion, and he is one of the nicest most genuine people I've ever met. He was there at the beginning and is truly the definition of Packer People.

So, Nick Barnett's twitter agrees with me. We have not paid attention to the lack of depth (talent) in the defensive line. One thing I would caution Barnett on, however, they lost only one guy (Cole) and Barnett's performance, pre-injury, was less than stellar. At a muscular 235, I worry he won't be able to handle the big guys that will be attached to him in the 3-4.

I like Redding's approach to conditioning. Last year's injuries, hammies and chest/biceps could be attributed to mussle rigidity due to overwork. AJ might benefit from this approach. He better, this is his last year to show a break through in his performance. Not only flexibility in play calling, but in body is neccessary.

This is a perfect example of why you need to let the offseason play out rather than assessing it after a few weeks. My hunch is Thompson drafts a d-linemen or two and signs Kevin Carter. Problem - solved.

I don't have a problem with what Barnett said, I think he's right and bolstering the D-line, particularly where it allows us to be a bit more inventive with our play-calling, should be a priority. I do have a problem with him using Twitter (which I am already so sick of hearing about everywhere) to air his complaints about the team or what direction the team should go in and so on, particularly when the off-season isn't even over yet. Also, guy needs to learn to spell. But how great would it have been to be at that game with Barnett, Rodgers and almost the entire wideout corps?

Anyone ask Barnett about Kevin Greene?

I'm always amazed at how fans need their fix today & can't wait until tommorrow. Signing K. Carter is a probable done deal. Drafting R. Brace in the 2nd rd & a 3-4 DE later on will supply Dom everything he needs on the DL.

Because fans can't see a solution "now", they seem to conclude there is no solution. You'd think some of them really believe GB will only have 10 on the field on defense. (or play without a RT on offense)

There's still snow on the ground. I'll pay more attention when my AC is running 24/7.

Couldn't agree more Woody. And I like the idea of Brace in the 2nd. Just hope he doesn't edge into the end of the 1st - he's got a buzz around him that I wish would die down a bit ;)
