Collins Involved In Altercation With Fan

Nick Collins was caught on video having a verbal altercation and throwing his mouthpiece at a Chicago Bears fan following Monday Night's loss.

Seeing as WITI-TV Channel 6, the Fox affiliate in Milwaukee, hasn't posted their video online it appears I'm as much a witness as anyone to the altercation Nick Collins had with a Chicago Bears fan after the Packers loss to at Soldier Field last night on Monday Night Football.

Living in the Milwaukee television market, I saw the video this morning.

According to the report from WITI-TV, Collins was supposedly called the "N" word by the fan. If that particular epithet was caught on camera, I didn't see it.

What you could see is Collins in the tunnel leaving the stadium arguing with a fan about 10 feet above him. There was no physical altercation between the two of them.

Collins ends up losing his cool and throws his mouthpiece at the fan. The whole incident lasts less than 30 seconds, and I couldn't really hear what was being said between Collins and the fan.

I've been asked if I think Collins will get suspended from his actions, and I truly have no idea. The NFL is reportedly in the process of "reviewing all the facts."

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has his day-after press conference at 4:45 Central time, if McCarthy has anything to say on the matter.

From the early "tease" tweets from Fox 6 last night, one got the impression it was a physical altercation. In fact, the story now is rather mild considering the fan spat at Collins and hurled a racial slur. Collins had words with the doofus then threw his mouthpice at him. Spitting is foul. Slurs are more foul. Collins should have ignored the guy, but tempers were already stretched to ultra thin.
My concern is not that it happened, but with Fox 6 for what seems to me, at least, to be sensationalizing the incident.

Serves you right. Next time do not drop an int and play like a pussy, and the opposing fans will have nothing to say to you.

I don't care how bad a guy plays or how much you might hate an opposing player, saying something like that is just downright rude. Plain and simple - act like a frickin' decent human being.

serves you right was too much, I admit. Had not read the possibility of the N word.

Still stand by my sentiment that you lose you shut up.

I'm sorry, this is insane. Collins gets spit on and called a nigger and he should just shut up and take it because his football team lost? Not a chance. I'm happy Collins held back as much as he did because that guy deserved a lot more.

You're out of your mind, PackersRS. Winning or losing is completely irrelevant to this situation.

Since your response condones racism and despicable behavior may be it would serve you right to be hung by your thumbs and be publicly pissed on.

Because I'm angry at Nick Collins I'm CONDONING racism? Fuck you in the ass.

People are assuming it was the N word. It's not a given. And even if it was, it's still not right for him to behave like that, because he also have to abide by the law. Or are you gonna make a case that there weren't any police officers in there?

I'm not assuming anything, just taking Collins' word for it.

"Collins tells FOX6's Tim Van Vooren the incident happened on his way down the tunnel to the locker room at Chicago's Soldier Field. Collins says that's when a fan called him the "N" word. Collins stopped, yelled at the fan and threw his mouthpiece at him."

Taking his word for it, like when he kept telling last year that he wasn't holding out, that he had personal problems, and people kept jumping down his throat?
-------
I more than wore out my welcome in this post, won't continue, was totally out of line sometimes, and I apologize. But do not call me racist, and don't say I don't respect others' point of view because I cursed when called one.

I still maintain my position on the subject.

First quarter, he dropped an int plain and simple.

He did not play bad, he played better than in games past, but he doesn't have the right to talk back at fans, no matter what they've said. You lost, you keep your head down, you go to work.

In Washington State, spitting on someone is assault. If that person has HIV, it's attempted murder.

I don't condone such things as spitting or the racial slurs at anyone but the players are professionals who get paid to play in front of all kinds of fans.Their skin(all races) needs to be thicker when on the field and going through the exits where this morons linger.
Perhaps the time will come when these fans who do such things and are filmed doing so will be punished as if doing so on the street. At least ban them from the stadium for now.
Sportsmanship-get some now!!!

This surprises anyone?? It's a bares fan! They're ALL idiots. Seriously though, a little smack talk is cool, its part of the game, but saying that kind of thing and spitting on someone is ridiculous. People need to stop acting like children. Then again, I think children would know better..

Collins should have taken the high road, blah blah blah.

If people in the public eye- like professional athletes- stopped taking the high road and started knocking unnecessarily rude, abusive and idiotic fans out cold, what we'd end up with is a lot less unnecessarily rude, abusive and idiotic fans and a hell of a lot more polite and respectful people in the stands.

Too many cowards and low lifes who would never dare talk sh*t to another person on the street for fear of getting their butts handed to them love to mouth off to professional athletes and others in the public spotlight figuring they are protected from harm. These people need to be harmed once or twice, and NOT rewarded in civil court afterwards.

Fuck tha police
Comin straight from the underground
Young nigga got it bad cuz I'm brown
And not the other color so police think
They have the authority to kill a minority

Fuck that shit, cuz I ain't tha one
For a punk muthafucka with a badge and a gun
To be beatin on, and throwin in jail
We could go toe to toe in the middle of a cell

Fuckin with me cuz I'm a teenager
With a little bit of gold and a pager
Searchin my car, lookin for the product
Thinkin every nigga is sellin narcotics

You'd rather see me in the pen
Then me and Lorenzo rollin in the Benzo
Beat tha police outta shape
And when I'm finished, bring the yellow tape
To tape off the scene of the slaughter
Still can't swallow bread and water

I don't know if they fags or what
Search a nigga down and grabbin his nuts
And on the other hand, without a gun they can't get none
But don't let it be a black and a white one
Cuz they slam ya down to the street top
Black police showin out for the white cop

Ice Cube will swarm
On any muthafucka in a blue uniform
Just cuz I'm from the CPT, punk police are afraid of me
A young nigga on a warpath
And when I'm finished, it's gonna be a bloodbath
Of cops, dyin in LA
Yo Dre, I got somethin to say

Fuck the police (4X)

Fitz,

It's not "Still Can't Swallow Bread and Water", but rather, "Still Gettin' Swole off Bread And Water", as in, getting swollen, getting big, building muscle mass, even though being under nourished. Um, sorta like Mike Neal, "Big Swole", lol.

LOL. I didn't take the time to write all that shit down, I just copy and pasted it off the net.

You are right about the lyrics though (can't say I read what I pasted, I should have). I don't know if I should be proud or ashamed but I still have that entire 'Straight outa Compton' tape memorized. I think I was in 6th grade when that came out. I remember hiding that tape in my room. lol

Sorry, disagree.

I'm not talking about taking the law into your own hands. I'm talking about the fact there's too many people out there who act in a provocative manner simply because they believe they are shielded from any repercussions resulting from their actions.

If someone is begging someone else to react, I'm a firm believer that person has earned whatever they have coming to them.. And, my personal observation of the last 35+ years is that usually the lesson learned results in a positive behavioral change from that day forward.

I'm not talking about bumping into someone on a crowded bus and dishing out an ass-whooping. I'm talking about someone going out of their way to be completely out of order to another person for no reason whatsoever.

I'm pretty Liberal in general, but I'm not down with the Hippy BS. Punch that Mofo in the mouth and he'll learn that being a complete a-hole has consequences. It's a sad fact, but too many parents out there never taught their kids any respect, and once they're adults, giving them a time out or a talking to doesn't cut it. If a man wants to talk the talk, he should be not be surprised when someone decides to take him up on the walking end of the equation.

Bears fans. These are the classy people who poisoned a Steeler fan last year.

It's just a game. There are more important things.

I don't have a problem with what Collins did and whether the Packers won or lost doesn't matter to me. He's still a human being.

PackersRS:

What are you? A sixteen year old that lives at home in your parents basement?Your language and mentality is what is the issue here. You sit behind a computer and use that language without any respect for another person's opinion. Do you honestly kiss your Mother with that mouth?
There is such a thing as common decency. This fan spat at another person. Spittle hit that person in the face.... low class in and of itself, but then he uses a racial slur to further exhibit his inability to control his childish and boorish behavior.
That person is a punk - pure and simple. And your defense of him, littered with your colorful metaphors and foul language puts you in the same catagory.
I suggest you grow up...same advice I'd give this "fan".

I'm not comparing situations, in Brazil I'm not called anything, and there is racism abound.

But as I said, don't call me racist and jump to idiotic, extremist conclusions.
