Bills to Release Former Packers LB Nick Barnett

Former Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Barnett was informed by the Buffalo Bills Monday that he will be released by the club.

Barnett spent two seasons in Buffalo after being released by Green Bay after the 2010-11 season. He was set to enter his final year of a three-deal next season.

According to Pro Football Focus, Barnett graded out as the No. 9 overall 4-3 outside linebacker in 2012, despite allowing a position-high passer rating of 129.8.

The Packers drafted Barnett with the 29th overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft. He would go on to play eight seasons in Green Bay, starting 107 total games and racking up nearly 800 total tackles. Along the way, Barnett was named a 2007 All-Pro and won his only Super Bowl with Green Bay in 2011.

There's someone I could see being a veteran pickup for the Packers - if the price was right (like veterans'-minimum right) and the brain trust thinks he can still play.
