Best Packer Blog? Egads.

Maybe it was inevitable, but it would seem that Packers Lounge winning the Titletown Award for Best Packer Blog has already gone to the head of said blogs' figurehead, one Alex Tallitsch. First there was his participation in, a description I use loosely, the latest Packers Lounge podcast. While his partner, Dale Z, attempts to coax the tiniest sign of life out of Mr. Tallitsch, Alex refuses to be bothered, telling his listeners over and over again "I don't care". That, ladies and gentlemen, is on par with the scintillating exploits found over at Packers Therapy.

Speaking of our nemesis good friends over at PackerChatters, compare Zach Kruse's well written and reasoned piece on Packer fans' reactions to free agency to Alex's lazy and ill-considered post on how Ted Thompson is wrecking his favorite team and, well, one begins to wonder if Mr. Tallitsch thinks he has 'arrived' after having his site recognized in its first year of existence. That's not how it works Alex. Packerfandom, at least the small segment that reads our little corner of the Blogosphere, will now hold you to a higher standard. Please blog accordingly.

If we could translate well reasoned posts into wins, you might have something.

It is obvious we can't.

I would argue, that in fact, my post is more ambitious and thought out than most.

Here you have a die-hard Packer fan, fiercely loyal for years and years, starting to question the approach of the organization. We go through this every year. We hear the same thing, and if it wasn't for the anomole of 13-3 we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Ted likes to buy Chevy's we all know that. Ron Wolf preferred to look at BMW's - both used and new. Both rides will get you to the same place most of the time, and yes the Bimmer might cost a little more both initally and in the long run.

But, when I am in a hurry, trying to pass someone on the two-lane going uphill, you best believe I am pretty frickin' happy I didn't buy the 4-banger.

This is why I will never have my own Packers blog... for fear that Aaron will strike down with great vengeance and furious anger when I try to poison and destroy my Packer brothers' (and sisters') love for our GM.

The book is open on Teddy the Commander and I believe this to be a pivotal year overall for his continued reign in GB.

But I am not willing to call it a year after 6 days of the new season.

This is the way I look at it, big picture.

The team struggles again this year and Ted remains with the conservative approach, he won't be here next season. If that comes to pass, he will have left us in good cap shape, a young deep roster with a few holes and a really good selling point to the next GM to come here.

Short term, it may or may not be a loss, but long term we are in great shape. Ted or no Ted.

My friend has lost his mind, but we should still love him.

P1, what if the Chevy is a Camaro and the Bimmer is a 3 series. Well, the Chevy is actually cheaper and faster then. :P

Dale Z - oh I have nothing BUT love for Alex. That's why I'm harsh. Firm but fair, that's my motto.

Too bad that, when you're in a hurry, trying to pass on the uphill part of a two-lane highway, a likely outcome will be that Peterbilt coming this other way smashes your little BMW all to pieces.

The great and bad thing about being a real fan is that you suffer through the hard times, the bad decisions, and the anticipated horrors of "your" team's dealings/plays. You also get to revel in the great things and proclaim loudly how you were there through the crap to get to that shining moment.

Besides, you (and the GMs, the coaches, whatevs) have no idea what we're going to get out of the "Chevys". Please refer to Tom Brady, largely disregarded as an athlete both going into and coming out of college, drafted 199th...and has three rings.
