Barring setback, Aaron Rodgers to 'hopefully' practice this week

-- Coming out of the bye week, the expectation is for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to resume his normal practice schedule.

The Packers travel to Los Angeles this weekend to face the Rams -- their first trip to the west coast for a regular-season game against the Rams since 1991 -- and they could have their still highly-productive quarterback at full strength. Or relatively close to it.

Coach Mike McCarthy said on Monday that Rodgers will "hopefully" practice on Tuesday, which will essentially be a Wednesday practice for the team. Rodgers hasn't practiced on a Wednesday since originally suffering his knee injury in the season opener against the Chicago Bears.

The Packers take flight westward on Friday, a day earlier than they typically would for a Sunday game. Their schedule is slightly altered due to their bye week.

Rodgers has alternated between a bulky brace on his left knee and a much smaller one that he sported against the Detroit Lions earlier this month. After suffering what he called a "setback" against the Lions, he reverted back to the previous brace he wore for a majority of the team's first six games.

An unchained Rodgers would offer the Packers more flexibility offensively, both in execution and with their play-calling menu.

It all depends on the health of the knee, which many outside opinions have speculated will hinder Rodgers for the rest of the season. If it were up to him, of course, he would've been out of the brace weeks ago.

Rodgers said after the Packers' win over the San Francisco 49ers last Monday night that he'd love to ditch the brace after the bye week, but left a lot of that up to how he'd feel throughout the coming week and the following week.

While managing his knee injury, Rodgers had only practiced on Thursdays and done light walkthroughs on Saturdays before games. Sometimes he'd be restricted to just rehab work during the week and listed as a non-participant on the team's injury report.

Under McCarthy, the Packers are 9-3 after the bye week and 7-2 with Rodgers as the starting quarterback.

I don't see how it matters how many days he practices with or without the brace he should just stick to his regular routine regardless of the brace .

I don't know how well Rodgers knee is doing but I do know that we can help Rodgers and the entire offense by getting Aaron Jones more involved. It sure would be nice to see Aaron Jones get some nice runs against the Rams and give Rodgers a chance to get some rhythm going with play action once the Rams adjust to focus on Jones.

Maybe our TEs will make an appearance this week as well. I'm talking about Lewis and Kendricks specifically. I really don't think of Graham as a traditional TE. Why we insist on using Graham inline to block is just beyond me at this point.
Not only are we not fooling anyone Graham just can't get the job done as a blocker.

It's time to open up the playbook against the Rams and Pats and hit them with as many unscouted looks as possible. We need to play these games with a lead and make our opponents one dimensional to give our defense a chance to hold them down on their home fields.

We really need the Rams game since it is a conference game and we already have 2 losses in the conference.
We need to play with confidence and not give away a quarter or a half as we have been so far this season.
Limit the stupid penalties and get some turnovers on D. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

It also help if Aaron Rodgers would commit to the run game too.

Rodgers is our hope for sure to even have a chance. 8.5 point underdogs? Based on the previous six games that is too little, should be more like 24 to be truthful. Close will not count, a win will. Lose this and the next four games are an early exit from the playoffs I feel. Hard to get excited from what I've seen from the Packers so far. MM failure to adapt and change the offense and inspire the coaches and other players will seal his fate in Green Bay. Watch other offenses like us fans: motion, misdirection, route rubs, slants, screens, runs? Anyone seen change from MM? You'll see a few runs, then behind in the score, then Rodgers throwing and running for his life with the same pass plays. Watch and see, then agree with me. If MM hasn't changed in preseason and six games how in the world would you expect a revelation now? Dreamers.

I have the bad feeling we will be seeing way to much of Aaron and Aaron together.

The more he can practice with the team the better we are for it.
