Baby Steps For the Running Game

Yes, the line and the running back looked light years better than they have in the running game. But of course, as no single person who follows football will let you forget, this encouraging performance came against the worst rushing defense in the league. But despite this sobering stat, the Packers took an encouraging step. If it had simply been a case of the line blowing open holes by physically dominating the Broncos, that would be one thing. But the fact that the tackles and tight ends finally seemed to execute their backside seal blocks and the back, Ryan Grant, was truly hitting the hole with the required single cut and racing towards the open field, suggests that McCarthy's week of emphasis on the fundamentals in practice paid off big time on Monday night. Here's hoping his team continues to adhere to the lessons they appear to have re-learned after the bye week.
