Aaron Rodgers: "At Some Point, We'll Have To Get Together"

Aaron Rodgers joined the FOX Sports announcers in the broadcasting booth and said he and his teammates were going to get together for workouts.

Maybe it's the rising cacophony of fans and sportscasters. Maybe it's wanting to see your teammates and friends. Maybe it's just time.

Regardless of the reasons, after throwing out the first pitch at Miller Park on Thursday evening, Aaron Rodgers reiterated his intention to get his teammates together to workout during the offseason.

Rodgers, who is in Milwaukee for the Greg Jennings Celebrity Golf Outing, joined the FOX Sports announcers in the booth to talk a little football in between innings of a 4-1 Brewers loss.

"At some point, if this lockout persists, then there is no doubt we're going to get together," Rodgers said. "Guys have gotten in some great work individually. And some in groups of two or three. There's a lot of guys in the same area working out, but at some point we'll have to get together."

Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee reported that he exchanged text messages with Rodgers after the interview, where the Packers quarterback expressed "some reservations about the workouts because he’s concerned that the potential risks may outweigh the rewards, since players would be exposing themselves to potential injury."

Nevertheless, Rodgers said he would discuss the idea of organizing workouts with his counterpart on the defensive side of the ball, Charles Woodson.

"I'm going to talk to Charles (Woodson) tomorrow at the event I'm going to for Greg Jennings' charity, and we're going to put something together," Rodgers said. "Because it looks like it's going to go on for a little bit longer, so it's going to be important for us to get together."

Last month, Rodgers told a sold-out crowd at a Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer fundraising event that if the lockout continues into June, he and and his teammates would have to find a way to get together.

Despite a growing criticism for not organizing workouts already, it sounds as if Rodgers is simply following his original plan.
