A 12 Year Old Ranks Every NFL Logo

"Who got an A in art class in 5th grade? Me. So I don't want to hear it."

We'll have actuall new football stuff to talk about *crosses fingers* but in the meantime, Olive asked me if she could rank all 32 NFL logos.

Who am I to say no?

Finally a topic I can get into. I personally like uncluttered non-cartoonist identifiable logos. It also helps to have something different or unique.

Art: Of course GB. Maybe one of the most distinctive head gear in all of sports. I'd put Chicago in here too. Both simple old school instantly recognizable. I like the NO fleur de lis. Texans - creative and just shouts out Texas.

Great: Hate to say it, but the Cowboys Lone Star - simple, recognizable and it's a star. Falcons - best of the bird logos. Colts - good luck horseshoe - uncluttered unique - like it.

Ok: Steelers & Browns (unique). Bills looks good, but then it's possible to interpret the buffalo has just been shot and is ready to collapse. Dolphins, Panthers, Lions, Broncos Cardinals - generic animal helmets (could say Cardinals is too cartoonish - but there's something about it). Giants - what else you gonna do. KC arrowhead is OK and Skins was OK but now a relic of the past. Chargers - don't like the color scheme

Sucks: Jets (not a fan of just putting the team name on the helmet). SF - yawn, now their original logo was interesting. Eagles just isn't done well. Raiders - cartoonish, same for Tampa. Jags - generic. Ravens is just plain bad. Titans - what the hell is it?

Fired: Seahawks (boring and cartoonish). Vikings (see cartoonish), although the horn helmet would be in the great category if that was being critiqued here. Same for the Rams. The Bengals logo presented here is bad but the stripped helmet would be in the great category.

So joining my fellow logo aficionados, I'll start with:

THE CLASSICS - Green Bay, Chicago, K.C., Dallas, (Baltimore) Colts, Raiders and Steelers.

THE COOL - Falcons, Broncos, Texans and Saints.

JUST OK - Bills, Panthers, Bengals, Jaguars, Seattle, Rams and Jets.

NEED TO BE SENT BACK TO THE CREATIVE DEPT. - Dolphins (logo better suited for Marineland), Cardinals (should not remind me of baseball) , Ravens ( winner of a grade 6 logo contest?), Browns (a nondescript logo = a nondescript team), Chargers (does lightning travel that way?), Lions (worse than their logo is their uniforms), Giants (poor man's Yankees logo) and Patriots (I suppose a corpse-like face with a hat on fire could be popular with horror film fans). Last the Vikings - while the logo is striking - it is historically inaccurate. The original vikings did not have horns on their helmets - this accessory was strictly concocted by Hollywood. So for the sake of historical accuracy the official team name should be The Minnesota Vikings?

Scratched - Washington

That was actually pretty entertaining. Olive should have been allowed to critique the Redskins logo, though. Their logo was thought up by a Native American and modeled after the Buffalo Nickel. I wonder if the cancel culture (snow flakes ) will try and round up all of the Buffalo nickels and melt them down.

The only ones I truly dislike are Jets and Browns. Browns logo is almost the anti-logo. I am guessing that in their logo brainstorming that the group just couldn't get past a pile of shit as their logo, and the only discussion was around, do they make it a fresh steaming pile or not.
