49ers Wide Receiver Recalls Driver's Touchdown vs. San Francisco

NEW ORLEANS––San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kyle Williams will be playing in his first Super Bowl this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

But on Thursday, he took a moment to reflect upon the career of Packers wide receiver Donald Driver who will announce his retirement next week at Lambeau Field.

Williams is in his third year for the 49ers, but it's a memory from his rookie season back in 2010 that sticks out in his mind when he thinks of Driver.

"One thing that sticks out in my mind is when we played in Green Bay my rookie year, they had the throwbacks on and he must have caught a pass and broke about six or seven tackles, carrying guys all the way to the end zone," said Williams. "That's probably going to stick out in my memory for as long as I play this game, as long as I watch this game, because that was just a beast of a play, and his whole career was like that. It's really congratulations on a great career for him."

In the third quarter of a 34-16 victory for the Packers, Driver took a pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers 61 yards to the end zone. The Packers would go on to win the Super Bowl that season.

"You don't play for that long unless you are one of the best," Williams said of Driver. "I would say he's one of the true technicians in the game. Receivers would know that term as somebody whose routes are precise. They can get off the line easy, and he just very efficient. He makes plays."

That play never gets old. Even Quarless couldn't 'tackle' DD.

Incredible play, exatly like the whole career which Driver had. Plus he is a class act and a role model.

Thanks DD, a true Packer!
The one I always remember was the one handed grab/stab alone the sidelines, can't remember who we were playing, but remember the wow factor. Great Packer

it was agains the Rams in St Louis in 2009. Great catch. I was in a bar in Grand Cayman eating breakfast with a Caybrew when he made that catch. Defender all over him and it was like butter. Just stuck to his hand.

Thanks for the mem's DD.
