Packers Practice Round-Up. Day 4, August 19, 2020

Today's practice was partly done in pads and then a walk through. Pads were on for about fifty minutes per Pete Dougherty, and it lasted one hour and twenty-three minutes altogether. LaFleur said it would be tough to get all fourteen of the allowed padded practices in anyway, so the team might start a practice in pads and finish it without pads, per Tom Silverstein.
GENERAL/PERSONNEL:
The Packers removed Hunter Bradley and Greg Roberts from the Covid reserve list. The Packers placed Roberts on the PUP list, which means he counts against the 90-man roster (really, the 80-man roster limit). The Packers made room for Bradley and Roberts by waiving WR Travis Fulgham and OT Travis Bluffy. Wood, Silverstein [Teams have to split the team into different locations if they have more than 80 players on the roster. The Packers are choosing not to split the team up and therefore are limited to 80 players.]
The Packers have no one on the Covid reserve list now. Silverstein
Davante Adams participated in the walk through towards the end of practice (Adams leapt for a pass and appeared to be injured earlier in this practice but was cleared to return to practice). ZaDarius Smith watched practice but did not participate (apparently precautionary per Aaron Nagler). No sign of Montravius Adams. Linsley and Bakhtiari participated in practice. Wood
Present but not participating: Bolton, Nijman, Roberts and Lewis. Haven't seen Stepeniak or Montravius Adams. Hodkiewicz
Marcedes Lewis is not participating but is present - getting a veteran's rest day. Olivia Reiner
QUATERBACKS/WIDE RECEIVERS:
Rodgers throws deep into double coverage and Amos intercepts. Adams was slow to get up but walked into the Hutson Center. Wood
Begelton made a nice adjustment to catch a pass against air (drill). Herman
Rodgers hits Kumerow on the corner route he overthrew yesterday. Nice route by Kumerow. Nagler, Hodkiewicz
Rodgers to Ervin on a sideline pass. Herman
Rodgers with consecutive completions to Tonyan & Kumerow. Too high for Lazard over the middle, then tough throw in traffic knocked down. MVS with tiptoe sideline catch - not sure if he was in. Scramble throw to diving Ervin for a catch to end the sequence. Spofford
St. Brown with a drop in jog through. Lots of drops. Passing offense has looked poor, while the running game has looked better. Silverstein
Rodgers to Aaron Jones on a deep pass, but just off his fingertips. Jones had a step on OLB Ramsey. Spofford
Malik Turner made two nice catches on errant passes in drill work. Nagler
LINEBACKERS:
Tim Williams with a sack against Rodgers. He has looked good. Herman
Kirsey with nice trail coverage on Aaron Jones. Hodkiewicz
Rashan Gary absolutely worked OG Zack Johnson for a "sack" on Love. Herman
DEFENSIVE BACKS:
Josh Jackson with excellent coverage against St. Brown. Nice play. Herman, Spofford, Nagler
Josh Jackson with two pass break-ups in team session. Hodkiewicz
The Packers are scheduled to practice inside the Hutson Center on Thursday, so I do not expect the media to be present, and there is just a media day on Friday. As many may know, the Packers have told reporters that they cannot report on formations used or indicate who is playing with the ones in practice or make roster predictions. This led one reporter to note that Bakhtiari briefly left 11 on 11s and a human being replaced him at LT. Assuming that there is a sufficient amount of quality information, I expect to write a roundup regarding Saturday's scheduled practice.

I chose to use Josh Jackson's photo for this article. There wasn't as much information available about individual players based on this practice. Others in the running included Tim Williams and Jake Kumerow. I think Williams has gotten mentions in every practice so far, and Hodkiewicz wrote that Kumerow is a professional route-runner. IDK if that's enough for him to make the team, but it's a good start and so far it has kept him in contention.
I am pretty sure that the "human being" that replaced Bakhtiari in 11x11s was Alex Light, by the way. Someone responded to a tweet by writing "so, Light is the backup LT" but the initial tweet that drew the response had been deleted/unavailable.

Thanks, TGR, for these. Always enjoy your compilation of this tweet information since I don't do social media (with the exception of CHTV ). I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything with your 'human being' comment in the write up as I'd probably have spit some liquid out, lol. Sure sounds like Tim Williams is making himself known (in a good way) and it's encouraging that Josh Jackson is making plays. GPG

One note, practice is inside Lambeau today, and we'll be there!

On the new Packer policy, this seems very New England like. Cuts directly against what Gute as GM with his press interactions. I understand trying to get an edge, but this a compressed camp with craming basics and technique more so than updating MLF's playbook at this early stage. Or is MLF more the typical pro coach than we are used to seeing. (I mean McCarthy was pretty relax with the press coverage) And yeah, it is pretty silly.

Oops! Thank you, Aaron. For some reason, I thought when the Packers went inside they closed the practice to media so they could install things they didn't want other teams to know about.
Oh well. I will write a roundup later tonight. Takes a couple of hours, so after I get a few things squared away.

These last few days of roundups have been awesome. Good to see Josh Jackson is stacking success from one day to the next. It was going to take a little time with Jackson no matter what for Jackson... Jerry Gray is doing his thing!
Amos is in the roundups everyday and it's always for making MULTIPLE good plays. Really looking forward to watching Amos and Savage in year 2 of this defense.
I have a real strong feeling this secondary can be a Top 5 unit. What's best is they are all young players who are just going to get better in most cases.

Nice to see something positive on Josh Jackson. Has Burks made any plays yet? Would be nice if he made a big jump this year.

Agreed on Jackson, and there's been positive press on Burks, too. They still need to win consistent and effective roles in the two deep (or as starters in the case of Burks), but given the position groups addressed in the draft and free agency, this team desperately needs young players to step up to improve in 2020.

I haven't seen a tweet of any kind (positive or negative) on Burks' actual play. He does practice with the ones, has put on some weight and gotten his strength back.
Aaron is at the practices in person. He would know if Burks has looked competent in the practices. [I certainly would take just solid, competent play from Burks.] It may be that Burks just hasn't yet made a spectacular play or a bad play. Send Aaron an email or tweet to answer on his chats.
Aaron can give a personalized opinion since he actually sees what is happening. These roundups give a house opinion and/or a consensus of media reactions to what happens in practice.
