Vikings DE Ray Edwards Signs RFA Tender
By admin
Now that the Minnesota Vikings have concluded all of their "Organized Team Activity" sessions and mini-camps, defensive end Ray Edwards has signed his one-year tender, Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune reports.
A fourth-round pick (127th overall) out of Purdue in the 2006 NFL Draft, Edwards became a full-time starter in 2007. Edwards has 145 tackles, including 36 for a loss and 21.5 quarterback sacks. Edwards also has 58 hits on opposing quarterbacks, including a team-high 26 in 2009, and has six forced fumbles and 9 passes defensed over 58 games during his four-year career.
Edwards was tendered at the "First Round" level this off-season. Barring a long-term deal between now and training camp, the 25-year old will earn a $2.521 million dollar base salary in 2010.
The Vikings have also waived the undrafted free agents:
C Eddie Adamski
OT Matt Hanson
RB James Johnson
WR Aaron Rhea (waived/injured)
CB Angelo Williams
OT Marlon Winn
