John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that in addition to signing sixth-round guard Shelley Smith, the Houston Texans added three veterans to its roster on Wednesday.

Signed to undisclosed contracts were tight end Derek Fine, fullback Justin Griffith, and wide receiver Bobby Williams. Veteran tight end Michael Gaines was waived, along with six undrafted free agents, headlined by Adam Ulatoski, who was profiled in the Chronicle this morning.

The other free agents waived were wide receiver London Crawford, quarterback Tyler Sheehan, guard Kristian Matte, linebacker Will Patterson, and fullback Jack Corcoran.

Williams and Griffith, who has a long history with Texans quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp, participated in the Texans' mini-camp this week on a tryout basis.
