Texans Place FB Justin Griffith on IR
By admin
The Houston Texans have placed veteran fullback Justin Griffith on injured reserve with a spinal cord concussion/contusion, Nick Scurfield of HoustonTexans.com reports.
Griffith, 29, has a lengthy connection with Texans quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp, who was the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator when Griffith entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick in 2003. Griffith followed Knapp to the Oakland Raiders for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, and then to the Seattle Seahawks in 2009.
Griffith entered training camp behind Vonta Leach at fullback.
Undrafted rookie fullback Jack Corcoran has been signed to take Griffith's spot on the 80-man roster. Corcoran, who played his college ball at Rutgers, had been with the Texans before being waived on June 16 when Griffith was signed.
