Seahawks Claim QB Mike Reilly Off Waivers

Quarterback Mike Reilly was claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Rams by the Seattle Seahawks, the team announced on Tuesday.

The Seahawks also officially announced the signings of wide receivers Chris Duvalt and Victor James, as well as undrafted rookie cornerback Marcus Udell. All three participated in the Seahawks recent three-day mini-camp on a tryout basis, and the Duvalt and James' signings were reported in this space earlier in the week. (Duvalt, James)

Reilly entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from Central Washington University, completing 10-of-15 passes for 117 yards with the Pittsburgh Steelers last summer. Sacked five times, as well, Reilly waived at the end of training camp and hit the workout circuit. Signed to the Green Bay Packers' practice squad on November 19, the Rams added Reilly to their active roster on December 9, where he was the emergency third quarterback for the final month of the regular season.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider was with the Packers when they signed Reilly last November.

Duvalt, a 5-11, 175-pound wide receiver from the University of Illinois, began his college career as a defensive back/return specialist, totaling six tackles and averaging 20.4 yards per kick return during his first two seasons in Champaign before moving to wide receiver prior to the 2008 season.

Duvalt started 15 of 23 games at wide receiver, catching 33 passes for 517 yards and 7 touchdowns, including 23 receptions for 361 yards and 3 touchdowns last season.

James was a backup quarterback and core member of the Lobos' special teams units throughout his career before he converted to wide receiver before his senior season. In his first season at receiver, James caught 35 passes for 398 yards, ranking second on the team in both categories, and his 3 receiving touchdowns tied for the team lead. James also led the Lobos with 12 special teams tackles, and also recovered a fumble and deflected a punt during the '09 season.

Udell is a 5-11, 185-pound cornerback from Middle Tennessee State, where he was first-team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2009. Udell totaled 27 tackles in his 23 games for the Red Raiders, but showed a knack for making the big play by coming down with 7 interceptions and blocking a kick.

Udell was not invited to the Scouting Combine, but ran a 4.58-second time in the 40-yard dash, and showed off a 34.5" vertical leap and 10'6" broad jump during his pro day.
