New Orleans Saints restricted free agent safety Roman Harper agreed to sign the team's one-year, $2.521 million dollar tender prior to Monday's deadline, Mike Triplett of The Times-Picayune reports.

Harper is expected to sign the tender today.

Had Harper not signed, or agreed to sign, the Saints could have reduced its amount to $588,500, which is 110% of his 2009 base salary.

A second-round pick out of Alabama in 2006, Harper has started 52 games for the Saints over the last four seasons, totaling 307 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 25 passes defensed.
