Rams WR Donnie Avery Has Torn ACL

St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo confirmed today that third-year wide receiver Donnie Avery has a torn ACL in his right knee and will miss the 2010 season.

Avery will need to wait for the swelling to subside before having surgery.

The Rams' second-round pick (33rd overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft, Avery has caught 100 passes for 1,263 yards and 8 touchdowns during his 31-game career. With Avery sidelined, the Rams will look to Brandon Gibson, Keenan Burton, Danny Amendola, and 2010 fourth-round pick Mardy Gilyard to step up their games and be reliable targets for rookie quarterback Sam Bradford.
