The New England Patriots announced the signing of veteran defensive end Eric Moore.

Linebacker Pierre Woods has been released.

A sixth-round pick (186th overall) out of Florida State by the New York Giants in 2005, Moore has 31 tackles and two quarterback sacks in 25 games with the Giants, New Orleans Saints, and St. Louis Rams.

Moore's most recent NFL stint was with the Carolina Panthers, finishing last season on their practice squad and posting 15 tackles, including three quarterback sacks, and two forced fumbles during the 2010 pre-season before he was waived on September 4.

Moore played for the Florida Tuskers of the UFL this season, and worked out for the Patriots earlier this week. Moore's signing comes a little over 12 hours after the UFL announced it had reduced its transfer fee to $25,000.
