New England Patriots offensive lineman Nick Kaczur has been placed on injured reserve, the team announced on Tuesday.

Newly re-acquired wide receiver Deion Branch will take Kaczur's spot on the 53-man roster.

Kaczur started 62 of his 68 games with the Patriots, who selected him in the 3rd round (100th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft out of Toledo. The 6-4, 315-pound Kaczur has been sidelined since injuring his back on the second day of training camp.

Kaczur underwent surgery on his back in mid-August.
