Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports the New England Patriots have claimed running back Thomas Clayton off waivers.
Clayton was waived by the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday.
The 5-11, 225-pound Clayton had one carry for 0 yards in two games with the Browns, who had claimed him off waivers from New England in October.
Originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth-round of the 2007 NFL Draft out of Kansas State, Clayton had 34 yards rushing for New England during the 2010 pre-season.
Clayton is signed through the 2011 season, and takes the roster spot vacated when Stephen Neal was placed on injured reserve.
