Panthers LB Jon Beason Added to NFC Pro Bowl

Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs has opted out of the Pro Bowl with an undisclosed injury.

Briggs will be replaced by Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason, Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Beason (6-0,237) totaled 121 tackles with a sack and an interception, and will be making his third straight trip to the Pro Bowl.

A first-round pick (25th overall) out of the University of Miami, Beason has one-year remaining on his rookie contract.
