Carolina Panthers linebacker Jamar Williams is expected to be placed on season-ending injured reserve, Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Williams had been out since suffering a spinal concussion in a Week 3 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Acquired from the Chicago Bears in exchange for safety Chris Harris during the off-season, Williams (6-0, 237) had a pair of special teams tackles for the Panthers this season.
Williams entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick (120th overall) out of Arizona State by the Bears in 2006. Williams totaled 89 tackles and a quarterback sack in 51 games with the Bears, who tendered him at the "Original Round" restricted free agent level during the off-season.
Williams' is earning a $1.176 million base salary under his one-year tender this season.
